QUOTE (Jew Among You @ Nov 8 2007, 02:26 AM)
QUOTE
The last operation wasn't coordinated properly. Mistakes were made:

1.) The conversation in the Shoutbox.
Correct.

QUOTE
2.) The unbanning of banned members.
I disagree. It would have been a mistake if I had unbanned only Shays, Kane, and other allies. But I just unbanned everyone arbitarily, so that they wouldn't be able to pin it on us. The mistake was that we started posting with the unbanned accounts immediately after I had lifted the bans, and that I didn't use a proxy to unban members.

QUOTE
3.) The leaking of the Mod Lounge archives (with Starr's name all over them).
Correct.

QUOTE
We should have went in there late at night, downloaded the Mod Lounge, and snuck out. Then we could have leaked the archives without them knowing which super moderator account was being used to access their files.
That was the plan all along. But while I was in the middle of downloading the Mod Lounge and Admin Council, OVERWATCH suddenly posted an announcement in the Mod Lounge forum: "ALL MODS AND ADMINS RESET YOUR PASSWORDS IMMEDIATELY!"

Now, what if Starr had been logged in at that time? She would have reset her password. There was nothing else that I could do - I had to take over Starr's account if I wanted to finish downloading the Mod Lounge, etc.

So I took over her account. Whcih meant that I had to take over her E-mail as well. And one thing lead to another.

Helios claimed you informed him via IM that you were in the Super Mod forum.

Here's what we should do:

1.) Give them a month off. This will give us time to plan our next operation and take into account every contingency.

2.) We need to focus on building up the board: creating quality discussions, bringing ever more old members back into the fold, subverting their best members; Carl Rylander is a case in point. We need to create the aura of The Torah disintegrating and The Lyceum taking off.

3.) Ignore the whole hack issue. We gain nothing from discussing the matter. Feign annoyance in public that OVERWATCH continues to perpetuate the feud.

4.) The homo porn seems to be having the opposite effect: uniting them against us. I would recommend reconsidering that strategy.

5.) Let's spend the next month plotting every detail of our next attack.

Everything we do should be calculated in light of some target objective. There should also be a period of rest between each operation (to plan every contingency). The goal should always be to 1.) polarize, 2.) inflame, and 3.) exploit division.

An excellent prospect: the Dutch forum. Huttenkloas is a mod on our board. Illusions is back. We could exploit the banning of WFHermans to get the Dutch forum to revolt and switch sides.

See above. Helios either has a bad memory or he is being untruthful. It is true that I had talked to Helios. But I did not tell Helios that I had access to the Mod Lounge; I clearly stated that information had been /leaked/ to us by a moderator. When asked for a recent quotation, I supplied him with it. I said this to him because I wanted him to believe that Beria was not responsible for the previous leakage - that Beria had been unjustly de-modded. It was a mistake, in hindsight, but Helios is still not reporting things accurately.

Yes, Helios is a liar. Whatever the case, it seems to have been Helios who alerted OVERWATCH of this, which is why he warned everyone to change their passwords.

Possible attack:

DoS attack against the Torah. Then within seconds, send emails to Torah admins (displaying as sent from OVERWATCH's email address) with a username/password phishing form with a message from 'Steve' that entering such info will reset their passwords and allow them to access the admincp. Then upon retrieval of their passwords we can make a backup of the database and upload it to The Lyceum - wiping out posts and accounts of distasteful posters. No unbannings, no deletions, no password changes. Those are our posts and they were hijacked, so we are taking them back.

Before any attack we have to turn up the heat on Torah Staff to demoderate Thomas777. Thomas777 still posts regularly at the Torah and the fact that OVERWATCH never suspected our fake Thomas777 leaks could be genuine even after Jew Among You's new leak confirmation to Helios is suspicious.

True, but remember, you need mod access. You cannot delete your own post after a certain amount of days on that forum.

I'm still not sure on how backups are taken, but I think you need Cpanel access to accomplish that.

We should get the same people who hacked OD or The Phora back in 2004 to take them down.

The issue is that Overwatch actually backs up his forum, and therefore would be able to restore it. But it would kill their activity.

We need to send a bulk mail, under a fake email (we can pretend to be the phora), saying that it is shutting down, and then plugging the lyceum as the new forum.

But internet posters on message boards are fickle creatures to begin with; hacks disrupt the continuity of posting and drive away members' patience for a board that cannot properly defend itself. It will have an extremely negative effect on the Torah - so whether or not Flak has backups is not really an issue. Members who don't want to deal with that sort of thing will just leave - whether there are backups or not.

NO.

Taking credit for the hack would simply infuriate their members at us. It might prompt some form of retaliation.

OVERWATCH says that he takes regular backups. We don't really know how regular these are.

A hack of any form is always demoralizing. It would puncture his haughty air of being Mr. Security, too.

The ideal hack would be one that could be pinned on some other known party, say, the Arabs who took down The Phora in 2004 or the anti-racist group which took out the Original Dissent database.

the biggeest issue with Ixabert is that he's way too quick to brag.

Helios claims the first way they knew they were being hacked was because Ixabert was bragging away to him. This really comprimises us when we try to explain it away.

However, the good news is that many posters on the phora actually think something is up. They don't quite blame overwatch, but they dont think its us either.

Law 47

Do not go Past the Mark you Aimed for; In Victory, Learn when to Stop

The moment of victory is often the moment of greatest peril. In the heat of victory, arrogance and overconfidence can push you past the goal you had aimed for, and by going too far, you make more enemies than you defeat. Do not allow success to go to your head. There is no substitute for strategy and careful planning. Set a goal, and when you reach it, stop.

Law 26

Keep Your Hands Clean

You must seem a paragon of civility and efficiency: Your hands are never soiled by mistakes and nasty deeds. Maintain such a spotless appearance by using others as scapegoats and cat’s-paws to disguise your involvement.

Law 29

Plan All the Way to the End

The ending is everything. Plan all the way to it, taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse your hard work and give the glory to others. By planning to the end you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know when to stop. Gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead.
