An equestrian statue of General Francisco Franco has been removed from the main entrance to Zaragoza Military Academy, by order of the Defence Ministry.
The statue, which dates from 1948 and was donated by Zaragoza City Hall, was lifted off by crane and set off for its new home in Zaragoza Provincial Museum.

Defence Minister, José Antonio Alonso, has announced a competition for ideas for a new monument to stand in its place. He has asked for ideas which best represent the role of the Army in the Spanish Constitution.
The flag of Spain will fly outside the Academy in the meantime.

The Zaragoza statue was one of the few to still stand in the country since Franco’s death in 1975. Its removal follows approval this February by the Congress defence commission of a proposal to urge the government to remove it during the current military academy year.

Just one of the remaining four is on public view. It is in the Town Hall Square in Santander, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and formerly known as Plaza del Generalísimo Franco until 2001.

Desecrating one of the last heroes Europe had. If they can't find a place for it, I'd be happy to put it in my garden.

The Socilalist scum does this while placing mounments to their bolshevik bretheren from the Civil war. AGAIN the conservative party is caught in a wise. If they protest then they are "fascists", if they do not then the more conservative part might balk and form their own party and thats what the Socialists want...they want a Spanish Front Nationale that takes votes from the PP.

If all that stops them is their fear of being branded fascists, then they're a worthless party that deserves to be split in half.

I know, they are the worst scum. At least the Bolsheviks are true to their rotten internationalist spirit. The conservatives will cheer Franco while drunk but when push comes to shove be the most cowardly lot. I heard in the radio that the PP is also now in favor of giving resident non european migrants voting rights in the local ellections. LOL...So instead of being in favour of what their voters want they will bend over backwards to kiss the mud ass.

If you want to blame anyone, blame your dumbass fascists who continue to vote for that party. It took our party 20 years, but look at how big we are now after we started from scratch.

I guess that comes from having most old Franco regime politicos actually joining (and creating) the PP in the early 80´s. And since many still relate Franco to what you would call "extreme right" you have those dumbarses voting the PP. Over here is still that mentality of "If I do not vote the PP then the Bolsheviks will win".

The General would probably turn over in his grave if he saw all this.

Franco was one of the greatest. Period. Sad to see Spain these days run amok with homosexuals and niggers. Oh well, they don't make guys like Franco anymore.....

Very sad news.
General Franco was one of the greatest leaders in his nation's history. He deserves respect, not this...
