As you all noticed, back ups aren't being taken, and good posts go to waste with each hack. There is a reason for this.

V-Bulletin software isn't for free. When the Phora was brought back online, Loki, who helped us out for the umpteenth time, installed the board using his own V-Bulletin account for which he paid (he has his own messageboard). He assumed that it would only be a few days until Fade would pay for his own board.

This was 2 months ago. As you may have guessed, Fade never bought the license, and Loki is still using his account for someone else's board. Loki already indicated he is not amused because of this, and I understand him completely. He has asked Fade more than once to get his own license, but nothing happened. because of this, no back ups are being taken, and that will remain so until whoever owns the Phora also owns the license to run it.

Fade seems to have vanished completely. He does not reply to E-mails sent to him, and hasn't logged in in 10 days. It is unreasonable to think he'll return and take care of the board. For this reason, some of the other mods have decided to take over (you already knew about this part). The moment we have our own V-Bulletin, we'll start taking back ups several times per week. Until that moment arrives, there will be none though.

The reason I tell you this is because I believe that your tremendous determination to hang in here after the owner left and the board gets attacked should not be for nothing.

How long may that be?

How long may that be?

Hard to say. I have no experience with how long it takes providers and the VBulletin administration to handle orders from customers, but I reckon it doesn't take them weeks.

Any hope of restoring Loki's backup of a few months back?

Nope. That computer isn't operational anymore today.

That computer isn't operational anymore today.Fade said in June that there was a June 11 2005 backup which was made by the hosting company. If that was true, then that backup should still exist shouldn't it? So can't that company transfer the backup somehow to Fade (It is legally Fade's), and then can't Fade transfer it to whoever has the expertise to put all the old threads back up, in archived form?

Speaking of which, where is Fade anyway? He's not even listed on the "Members List"!

Fade is now John Dryden FYI
About that June 11 backup...would be interesting to find out more but I doubt it works since I bet he would have used it before.
