A 3D reconstruction of the face imprinted in the Shroud of Turin (http://www.rejesus.co.uk/expressions/faces_jesus/facesj_media/b_shroud.jpg), allegedly Jesus Christ. The volume was essentialy realized by displacement mapping. I later painted very roughly over the rendering to approximate what he might have looked like. The changes to the original volume where to remove what seems to be a gash or wrinkle in the shroud on one of his cheeks, the bumps on his eyes, presumably coins, and I fixed the part where his nose meets the mustache, which was possibly caused by the shroud hanging on the tip of his nose. Still, a lot more work is needed to call it finished.

That's pretty amazing.
I have read quite a few articles on the history of the shroud and how it came to be located back in the hands of the Vatican.
Pretty interesting stuff, really.

For all of you skullshape fetishists, do you think you can do an anthropological classification of these pictures?

Jesus was/is a racial Jew, but you can not see the nose verry good.

There is no such thing as racial Jew, or Jewish race...

Behold! Jacques de Molay, the last Templar!

I read that book, it was most interesting. Perhaps that's why the re-construction looks NORDIC.

But Jesus was Nordic anyway. See;
