So out of the entire Phora family, which members are your favorites? Whose posts do myou enjoy reading ? Which members do you find yourself in agreement the most? And so on. List them, along with an explaination why.

Discuss.

I enjoy reading Charles Martel and Anknathon. And I find myself in agreement with most things Antietam says. Or used to.

Ahknaton - Has articulate, well-reasoned opinions on all issues, even if on certain ones he lacks the knowledge of other members. An intelligent poster and a fair-minded moderator.

Timothy Leary - Although I disagree with him philosophically, I find his posts very entertaining to read. He has an arresting literary style, and I notice that unlike most people in their twenties he avoids using stupid cliched phrases. He also has a great sense of humor. His exchanges with Petr were very amusing.

Helios Panoptes - A great mind. I can tell that it's child's play for him to mentally grasp concepts that I struggle to understand. His contributions to the Phora are valuable. When I log in I usually read his latest posts.

Kevin O' Keefe - When he isn't being debased by writing about wanting to screw someone and smoke crystal meth, he displays great erudition. He has a wide-ranging knowledge of everything and his posts can make for interesting reads. I generally agree with him on racial issues.

Lionheart - Probably the member whose views are closest to mine. I wish he'd contribute more.

Julian Lee- for obvious reasons
Myself- for obvious reasons.
Lionheart - for his views (his view on vice is mine) despite his nonexistant sense of humor (no mydeathspace laughs for him).
wfhermans- exposing the enemy of our people in all their twisted misadventures.
Iron Lazar- for his contributions to the SP
Rice- for towing the hardline when others would deviate.

I agree with Carl Rylander that Helios is VERY sharp. Probably the posters who I most look forward to reading/interacting with are Iron Lazar/Gassedarbeiter, Basil Fawlty, NeoNietzsche, Wintermute, OKEEFE, and (believe it or not) Ixabert/Bregowald. All of these guys are very much on point and are highly capable in any debate. However, I learn from all of you people to varying degrees.

I always enjoy reading posts by Thomas777, Charles Martel, Mazdak, Iron Lazar, Diktator Dietschland, Helios, and Ahknaton. In fact, I enjoy reading all the posts by most of the users here-- minus a few troll--but no need mentioning them here.

I enjoy reading the posts of the majority of the posters on the Phora. It would be easier to list the posters whose posts I don't like than the ones I do, but I won't do that. :D

No offence to anyone, but I think there have been too many of these "whose your favourite?" threads lately. They encourage cliques and ego-drama, potentially hurt the feelings of people whose online buddies forget to mention them, and turn the place into a socialising/popularity contest. I am against them in general.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't mean to sound defensive, but which issues to you feel my knowledge is weak in? I'll take it as constructive criticism, I'm always keen to get reading recommendations etc :)

I am surprised by my own popularity.

Rather than name again the posters I've mentioned before, a few posters who fly under the radar, and whose contributions I am interested by, are as follows:

Carl Rylander - We differ on theological topics, but I find his posts consistently well-argued. Also, he seems like a gentleman.

Burrhus - Reminds me of Wintermute, if he were a materialist. His posts read as though they were written by a mature, balanced individual.

Village Idiot - An intelligent young fellow. His macabre sense of humor resonates with me.

Scamander - Makes articulate contributions to philosophical threads.

TriggeSlav - Provides a wealth of genetic and anthropological information.

I don't especially have a favorite.

At the moment it just occured to me that I do get a kick out of the writings of Starr.

She usually seems a bit pissed off.

There are exceptions of course. For example when it pertains to Muscle Power she seems a bit softer and more feminine.

But in general she is kind of crabby, and reminds me of Lucy in the Charlie Brown comics.

Starr
09-27-2006, 08:31 AM
Crabby? pissed off? :p Not true. I am always very nice.

On who is more annoying between Potty and Sulla, I would definitely have to go with Potty. I posted a thread once about some guy who killed puppies or something and he negative repped me and asked me how I could care about dogs when I have no love for my fellow man or something along those lines. An excruciatingly annoying comment. That, alone, tops everything said by Sulla all rolled into one.

1) Ahknaton. :jam: (sm)

Without a doubt one of my all-time favourite posters on any forum I've read thus far on the internet.

Why? Because he's so damn unbiased its scary. A trait I admire so much. I've been meaning to ask him where he gets it from.

I sometimes have trouble deciding what his political stance is. Usually I have most forum posters figured out within the first few days of them posting (Thus, I lose interest in political forums fairly quickly). To me, Ahknaton has this air of mystery about him that keeps me posting here. Sometimes, I think he's racist. Other times, I think he's anti-racist. Sometimes, I think he's a bit of both. That's what a love about the guy. He keeps me guessing. I am always intrigued by his posts because I'm left wondering what will come out of his mouth (Or fingertips) next.

I often wonder what the guy is like in real life. What a poster of such quality is like in person. The fact that he's stationed in South Korea of all places adds interest for me.

Perhaps if I read most of his older posts more thoroughly it will give me an idea where his heads at, but for the moment, I couldn't be bothered.

Anyway, long overdue praise from me.

2) Integrity. (sm)

There's just something I love about this guy. One of the most underrated Phora posters, imho. He seems to keep a low profile and doesn't seem to want attention like Philosopher and Kevindenavyseal.

His posts just seem so... straight and to the point.

I love how short he makes his posts. He just makes one short statement, and it says so much about the topic. It sometimes angers me when some posters write paragraphs and paragraphs of absolute dribble (Like myself :o ) when they could have pretty much summed it up in a sentence or two.

His also does something I absolutely LOVE. He points out other peoples hypocrisy and contradictions. Has amazing perception.

Further, his posts are usually (When he's not deliberately being serious) very witty and funny.

*Granted, I haven't read all that much of these two posters in a quite a while because I have been quite busy. Perhaps they have changed their writing style over the course of a few months. This was just the way I remember them from all the times I have read their posts.

Ragno stands apart in terms of wit intelligence and writing style.

My favourites are not always the people I agree with most and like most, Burrhus for example, because I just find myself reading along and nodding. It's a bit like reading more lucid versions of some of my better contributions.

I like 007, good solid poster.

Akhnaton is a superior intellect.

Cerberus is just a doggedly decent person.

I like Muscle Power because of his thick skin.

Julian Lee, a little bit crazy or a little bit of a genius.

From the opposition I like,

Harjit

Mr Angry (I want to buy him a pint)

Most of the girls disagree without being obnoxious.

Jake, Cheesy...lots of good poster once you get going, I suppose you're only as highly regarded as your last good post.

Il ragno. I can't really explain it, I didn't want to like him (nothing against him, I'm a rebel) but I can't help it. What can I say? I'm charmed.

Integrity. Didn't think I should like him either, political differences and all that, but he seems like a genuine guy most of the time, Thaumiel too (I actually used to get them muddled up all the time) both can be a little too scathing to my fellow antiracist friends (who should be included in my list as going without saying: Harjit, MrAngry et al) but I still like them.

Jake Featherston makes me smile sometimes, though I miss Olde Boggy.

Helios is funny in a sarcastic, dark way.

Kriger seems like an affable enough fellow, though a little over sensitive. (I put those three in a row on purpose fyi :p)

I also like Ahknaton, Keystone, Stan, 007, Sandee, Anarch, Niccolo, Xenix and many more. Please don't be offended if I left you out.

Not being entirely sure how you define 'solid poster', the laughter ought to be reserved, I suppose.

When has 007/Sped ever offered forth any post that went beyond a single line of text, utilizing the most elementary vocabulary, volunteering the most mundane or widely known facts, the most simplistic of opinions, the most unimaginative of personal attacks, or badgering the singular female member of his forum to PM him pics of her tits?

If you mean 'solid' as in toilet cobra solid waste, then I agree.

People I like interacting most with in the SB:

Roland - for his thoughtful posts on political philosophy and critical theory. He's responsible for my revived interest in Carl Schmitt. ;)

Thomas777 - also for his analysis of political matters mixed in with humour. Dont always agree with him, but I still respect his perspective.

Macrobius - this man is almost an intellectual category of his own. I especially enjoy his posts on theology and philosophy, which are so rich and in-depth.

Theocide - another very thoughtful poster here. :)

Errigal - very witty and funny member, but can also stimulate intellectual discussions as well.

Azimuth - fellow Phora Polack! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/travesmilies/flaggen1/smilie_flagge11.gif

WillieBrennan - fellow Catholic. ;)

The above reminds me of something in the book The Ghost in the Machine by Arthur Koestler.

From a review at Amazon:

Koestler blames the dominance of instinct over intellect for humanity's spectacular social and moral cataclysms. The passionate neighing of affect-based beliefs prevent us from listening to the voice of reason.

This is why all moral exhortation, all efforts of persuasion by reasoned argument, are doomed to failure; they rely on the implicit assumption that homo sapiens, though occasionally blinded by emotion, is a basically rational animal, aware of the motives of his own actions and beliefs an assumption which is untenable in the light of both historical and neurological evidence. All such appeals fall on barren ground. They could take root only if the ground were prepared by a change in human mentality all over the world, which would be the equivalent of a major biological mutation.

The solution to our predicament is sketched out and advocated by Koestler in the final few pages of The Ghost in the Machine. It's a pharmacological solution. Readers will bristle at it, and some might say it's contemptible. However, perhaps humanity's only hope for long-term survival is through medication. If we agree that something has gone awry in our nature, then nothing short of tampering with human nature can rectify the pathology of our species, which has been so garishly demonstrated throughout history.

And as Koestler is himself quick to point out, we tamper with our nature every day, and have done so ever since the first hunter made a fur or skin cloak from the hide of a dead animal. It could be argued that part of our problem has been tampering: Pasteur and others tampered on a microscopic level, and with colossal repercussions. No one would seriously propose that entire nations should abandon antibiotics to cull the herd a bit. We must move forward.

Title:

Alfacritical's paraphrase of what was written by The_Chauvinist:
I found this on another forum where there were jeers of mockery and ridicule from both of the two mindsets permitted in the Democratic Party. It seems that those loyal to the Democratic Party give themselves permission to use racist innuendo to criticize politically incorrect behavior.

Perhaps Philadelphian has earned the right to be considered my favorite poster. Philadelphian has provided a lot of material for me to think about. For example:

MAX FRENCH’S SPEECH at CONFERENCE AGAINST TERRORISM, AUGUST 30, 2013, TEHRAN

All part of the same 4,000 year campaign, the same fingerprints, the same M. O., the same goal…
[...]

The evildoers make war on an entire planet.
In a risky and foolish all-or-nothing gambit, they risk everything for their Jewish utopia.

Since 1979, the Islamic Republic has borne the brunt of the ancient enemy’s attacks.
Without complaint.
[...]
a crushing embargo, Iran still stands…

And prospers.
In fact, the enemy has unwittingly made you stronger with its ongoing 34 year war.

Link:
http://www.thephora.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1235650

A war of 34 years isn't very long compared to a 4000 year compaign.

If the evildoers make war on an entire planet, then are we to understand that the crushing embargo is directed against the entire planet? Are Jews failing to spend enough money on Earth products and Earth services? Are Jews spending this planet's gold for alien products and alien services?

GregHill might soon become the best Phora poster. There's only one ingredient missing. We require an explanation of why satellites in geosynchronous orbit don't crash to the Earth.

At 5:20 to :30 he made a typical error of most people today (almost everyone), and he confuses the flat earth myth with the scientific errors of heliocentrism. This is not too complicated but can be time consuming to correct. On those points, evidently, he's been indoctrinated by the Judeo-Masonic and "scientific" materialist position, which has been at the wheel for many years now, and remains in contradiction of the facts.

The earth is not flat, of course, and the ancients and the ancient Greeks knew that. So did the medievals. Columbus did not prove to the western world that the earth was round. They had already known that for many years, even going back to hundreds of centuries BC.

The earth is a sphere, and it is not moving. The sun, moon, planets, and stars are all orbiting the earth from east to west every day. This is provable science, contrary to Einstein, Newton, and Copernicus; and it is also in agreement with the Bible.

Newton's theory of "gravity" and "universal gravitation" is unscientific, and remains unproved.

Many people have been knowledgeably aware of these facts, but "they" of the spin want the public "lost-in-the-cosmos" for the trouble that it is to manage them and stay on top of the system.

There is no irony in this nomination: Gregz for favorite Phora poster. We are being kept informed about Malaysian courtroom decisions:

In a landmark judgement, a Malaysian court today ruled that non-Muslims cannot use the word "Allah" to refer to God and prohibited a Christian newspaper from using it in the Muslim-majority nation.

Suppose that a freelance writer who is a Muslim writes something containing the word "Allah", and submits it to a newspaper. If it is published, then is a non-Muslim using the word "Allah"? Are Malaysian newspapers like Romney corporations -- are they people? Do all Malaysian newspapers have official stances on religion?

"It is our common finding that the usage of the name 'Allah' is not an integral part of the faith and practice of Christianity," said Justice Apandi, who read the summary of the decision.

Is the usage of the word "Malaysia" an integral part of the faith and practice of Christianity? If not, then I suppose that it's time to prohibit some newspapers in Malaysia from using the word "Malaysia." Also, newspapers in Malaysia that aren't officially "Muslim" newspapers shouldn't be reporting the court decision about the use of the word "Allah" because such reporting would require them to use the word "Allah."

I quoted from:

Are you a bit of a pyromaniac? Have you nevertheless always wanted the positive reputation of a firefighter? Opportunity knocks in the form of Philadelphian's thread:

Giants, who roamed before a flood wiped them out?
http://www.thephora.net/forum/showthread.php?t=92276

In 1883, Paiute Indian princess, Sarah Winnemucca, wrote the book, 'Life Among the Paiutes,' where she referred to of these giant, re-haired people - and of how her tribe had finally rid themselves of these cannibalistic giants by stoking and then setting fire to the cave in which they lived - the same cave which was, decades later mined for bat guano by the white ranchers.

Yes, people, setting fire is what you will do. However, the headlines will speak of a flood of water that you unleashed. You can have your cake and eat it too, thanks to Philadelphian, who receives another nomination for favorite Phora poster.

How about the harm to all communities that comes from denying Alfacritical the basic human right of free speech?

How about the harm that arises from shutting down Alfacritical's questions and Alfacritical's investigations into historical events that are important enough to be questioned and investigated?

Not to even mention how much further animosity is created by basically designating WN -- and no other group -- as deserving special protection from Alfacritical?
