Thanks.
Any background on this recovery you could fill us in on?
Also, I can't seem to see the vehicle

She appears , parts of her at any rate- sorry I should have linked to other pages.
Background , Sorry , don't know anything more about her - the recovery would seem to have been something of an epic dig when you look at the ground conditions and the drainage required.
I wonder where all these recovered bits and pieces end up ?
there must be a lot of AFV's around in part all over Eastern Europe.

Some more recently posted photos of the Stug. not a MkII but a rare Mk IV.

The date on the photos is Sept. 2006 so she is a recent recovery .
One wonders what else is under the ground in the east ?
Interseting phot of the roof mounted MG bracket and shield , what seems to be a small periscope built into the mounting.

Looks like she may have sustained a hit to the flank.
Hope we get a shot down the bore, from the little bit of rifling we can see through the side of the muzzle brake, it looks like it may be in decent shape.
This looks like some serious damage here:

A hit might have detonated the ammo on board, ripping apart it's seams, perhaps that's why they're recovering it in sections instead of one peice

She does seem to have been taking some punishment - anyone got any clues on the markings ?
Found this on Wehrmacht Awards this evening - a FW-190 recovered from the sea off Norway - looks to be in reasonable order as well.

Looks to me like a regular StuGIII late version. Where do you see a VI model?
Those ugly number markings look to me like what the Soviets used to do when taking some enemy vehicle they had captured (destroyed or whole).

Gun mantlet and the top close defence Mg set up.
You may well be right about the markings .
