Either Dominique Wilkins or Jordan. Their battles in the dunking contest were epic. Try and find clips of Dominique doing a windmill dunk- he brought the ball below his feet in some of them.

I know. I'm collector of bball videos, so I have that stuff. jordan is my favorite player, beside Duncan today, but must say that VC is the best in dunking.

"Dunking" shouldn't be allowed in basketball. It is not a skill. Raise the hoop.

Look, I know the dunk is a great circus play and people love it. It's not going away; but the illegal steps involved that are never called, the hanging all over the hoop---that's not BB. The traveling that's allowed has spilled over into the dribbling, where guards come down the floor palming the ball like crazy, which is never called.
I'd like to go back to the rules of the Alcindor days, yes. His "sky hook" was a thing of beauty, and he rarely missed when they gave him time to set for it.
That was a shot, not a dunk, which ain't a shot...:)

I agree. It was art, just like Jordan's fadeaway, Clyde's penetrations finished by gliding, or Hakeems ''dreamshake''....
best regards Keystone.... but dunk is raw power, and it's so good...

I like your analysis, Keystone. A dunk is not a shot. To shoot means that the projectile leaves the launching device at some distance from the target. Thanks.
There is no basketball in America anymore. It's been replaced by Thugball, a game for those who lack the self-esteem needed to play a TEAM sport and the self-discipline to follow rules.
Basketball died the day Larry Bird retired. Bird was the greatest player ever in basketball and didn't shave points at the end of the game because he was in trouble with gamblers and got a two year suspension for cheating and gambling. (Hint: MJ)
Dunking isn't basketball, it's egotistical, jive-ass show-boating. An essential element in Thugball.

I got a kick out of it when Jordan's old man got wacked and the press presented the story as some "random" crime. LOL

Wait, what is the story with Jordan and point-shaving? I was not even 10 at the time his father was killed and it slipped past me entirely.

I tried to vote on NBA highlights alone, so I had to go with Carter.
Overall, I would go with Dr. J or Connie Hawkins.
