Here are a few pics of the Legion of French Volunteers (abbreviated LVF in French) or, Infanterie Regiment 638 of the Heer.

This first one has a good shot of this guy's medals from 1939-40, with the Croix de Guerre (can't tell if he exchanged it for the Vichy medal, the Croix de Guerre Legionnaire). The Croix du Combattant is on there as well although I can't decipher the other medals.

This one below is a good shot of Colonel PUAUD who later would be grandfathered into the Waffen SS Division Charlemagne; he was KIA in Pomerania against the Soviet Army. On the right is Guy Servant, decorated with the Croix de Guerre Legionnaire. Note his Ostmedaille (Eastern Front) ribbon and Wermacht belt buckle. Servant was on of the first 50 recruits who joined the LVF upon its creation.

Interesting photographs , what is the source ?
The guy with the Croix de Guerre also seems to have been awarded the wound badge in Silver, other soldier has ribbon for EK 2nd Class in his button hole.

OK WFH , so I missed that line , big deal why are you laughing so much ?
I have seen some other photos from this series in various publications , perhaps this will give you a litl more to laugh about WFh.
Why is it you can always be relied upon to destroy decent threads , one thing WFH you can be relied upon to do - that is to make a negative contribution.
Yes the Charlemagne Division did fight almost to the last man in Berlin , you have to admire them for that.
