On behalf of African Americans everywhere, I'd just like to say: We're tired of being No.1.

For most of the last 386 years, we've been No.1, and it seems no one in America can topple us from our perch for long.

We're No.1 over the Jews and the Muslims, No.1 over the whites and the Hispanics, No.1 over the Asians and the American Indians, No.1 over the Protestants and the Catholics, the gays and the straights, the believers and the nonbelievers. Hey, we'd be No.1 over an extraterrestrial with a death ray.

We have been, and continue to be, and perhaps will forever be No.1 in America - black folks. The descendants of Africans in America. The ones for whom one stone fits all.

It's no brag, for it's nothing to brag about. It's just a stone-cold fact borne by the latest FBI statistics on hate crimes. Of the 7,649 hate crimes reported in the FBI's Uniform Crime Report for 2004, more than half of the hate crimes involved race, and more than half of those involving race were crimes against African Americans.

I live in the U.S. and I'm still trying to figure that one out. I know Puff Daddy (now just "Diddy" after being "P. Diddy") was a college student who had an internship at a record studio and knew how to get in. No clue about 50 cent, but here's the thing: Even though they have money, they don't have wealth. 50 Cent is rich, but the man who signs his check is wealthy (as Chris Rock would put it).

Let's see, even if these numbers are true. 7,649 divided by two=around 3,849, divide this number again by 2 and you get about 1,912. How many crimes did "african americans" commit against each other in the same time period?

Who said they're the most famous and richest? PS: White kids make up the largest group of consumers of hiphop music, that is, they buy more rap CDs than any other group of people so guess who's making 50 Cent and Puffy rich? It sure isn't black people.
