I just finished off a bottle of sake that's been sitting in the fridge a while and I feel ill. All I had before it was a glass of port and a little more than an ounce of rum. And I can drink more than this without feeling sick to my stomach.

Up to now, I've always thought that talk about how some drinks are nastier than others was just bull...

Well, you learn something every day.

How long was it in the fridge ? It might have turned into vinegar.

i never heard of sake before so i looked it up
i wonder if it was sitting to close to the light in the fridge?
prolonged exposure to heat or direct light will spoil your sake.
or maybe it wasn't at a temperature that was good for you
sake, also like wine, presents a different personality at different temperatures.

Thanks for that site.

"Once you open your bottle of sake, we suggest you enjoy the complete bottle within two or three hours, and if you have friends over that's not too hard. If you simply can't finish it all, please store in your refrigerator and drink the remainder within the next two days. Premium sake, once opened, begins to oxidize, and this noticeably impacts the taste. If, for whatever reason, you cannot finish your bottle of sake, and it sits in your refrigerator or pantry for longer than three days after being opened, consider using it to prepare and cook food. See our FOOD section for some ideas."

Well... Um... OK. Ugh.
