Was it obliderated from lack of participation or that weird feud that happened on it while back? I need an excuse to freshen up on my svensk and bringing it back would be nice.:(

If this is true could, can we atleast call the jewology forum the 'Jewology and Scandianvian forum'?

This would also solve the moose thread problems.

I asked about a Scandinavian section a while back. It seems that I should stop asking and start demanding. Therefore, I hereby demand that a Scandinavian section be opened.

I definitely will post there.

The family has been in the U.S. since the late 1800's. For whatever reasons, contact with relations in Norway are basically non-existent. We are a minority in the sense that we live in a primarily Scots Irish Baptist community.

There are times I feel as if the family has too little contact with our kind.

It is also interesting to me to see the slight differences between those still living in native lands and those of us who relocated and became somewhat "Americanized".

What about something like the Union badge of Norway and Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_badge_of_Norway_and_Sweden)
In 1844 the proposals of a joint committee were enacted for both countries by king Oscar II. A Union Badge was created, combining the flag colours of both countries, equally distributed. It was placed in the canton of each flag, also in the merchant flags, which had until then been without any symbols of the union. The two countries got separate, but parallel flag systems, clearly manifesting their equality.

The union badge was at first popular in Norway as a sign of Norway's equal status in the union. In Sweden it was always seen by some people as a desecration of their flag, and one of its adversaries called it the "herring salad" (No.: Sildesalaten, Sw.: Sillsalladen) because of its resemblance to a popular dish of the Smorgasbord. It came to be popularly known under this name in both countries.

But one of the norwegian blues is turned danish white, and one of the swedish yellow is turned finnish white, as I think they can join if they want to.

But Finland is not part of Scandinavia. Perhaps just list the three flags of Scandinavia: Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

Finland is not part of scandinavia, but they have always been welcomed anyway. I don't know of any anti-finnish sentiments in any scanidinavian and they have always been accepted as equals. They might have been teased for they excessive sauna use and alcohol abuse, but respected for their toughness.

You also have the aspect theat we have shared these areas for 4000 years(?), and that makes the finns honorary scandinavians if they want to.

I think Finns are bad ass, but I was just stating that they weren't part of what is traditionally known as Scandinavia.

As far as Scandinavia is concerned, the traditional nations that it is made up of are only Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. However, to a lesser extent Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Finland are also sometimes considered to be part of Scandinavia since Finland has been a part of that region for so long and because Iceland and Faroe Islands were settled by the Scandinavian people. Greenland to a very small extent could be considered a distant part of Scandinavia due to its early settlement by Vikings and because Denmark still has control over the country.

Yes, this is true. Those are the only true nations of Scandinavia. But the others have had very close ties with them for centuries.
