SAGUENAY, Quebec - A 15-year-old girl with a peanut allergy died after kissing her boyfriend, who had just eaten a peanut butter snack, hospital officials said Monday.

Christina Desforges died in a Quebec hospital Wednesday after doctors were unable to treat her allergic reaction to the kiss the previous weekend.

Desforges, who lived in Saguenay, about 155 miles north of Quebec City, was almost immediately given a shot of adrenaline, a standard tool for treating the anaphylactic shock brought on by a peanut allergy, officials said.

An autopsy was being performed. Dr. Nina Verreault, an allergist at the Chicoutimi Hospital in Saguenay, declined to comment on the case

The symptoms of peanut allergy can include hives, plunging blood pressure and swelling of the face and throat, which can block breathing.

Peanut allergies have been rising in recent decades. The reason remains unclear but one study found that baby creams or lotions with peanut oil may cause children to develop allergies later in life.

About 1.5 million Americans are severely allergic to even the smallest trace of peanuts and peanut allergies account for 50 to 100 deaths in the United States each year. Canadian figures were not immediately available..

I think it's not that Mazdak believes in God, but rather he recognizes the moral structures which any God represents...it represents an authority in which people believve they have to abide by, or else there are going to be dire consequences. As an atheist myself, I recognize that religion plays an important role in maintaining some sort of order---that is why I don't like the route modern atheism has taken (particularly in the U.S.) as an excuse for lewd, degenerate behavior...perhaps (at least for a time being) the best society would be an atheistic ruling government with a majority population devout Christians or Muslims or one of those other moralistic monotheistic religions.

probably paranoid and will kiss no one ever again. Girls will take his stance harshly and the only sexual pleasure he can ever recieve are from prostitutes. :D

This, along with what rice said, sums up why i chose the title. such an allergy is a weakness that she would eventually have been exposed to and better now than later. Also she was 15. Although that is a bit "OLD" for most girls to be kissing (i can think of a few examples where 9 year olds have boyfriends/girlfriends and make out with them and by 12 its gotten further than that). However what the hell is a 15 year old doing with a boyfriend? nothing, should be the answer to that. I know that sounds unrealistic but hey, its true.

I can't say I agree with this idea that 15 or 16 is not old enough for sex, child-bearing, and marriage. Plenty of nations have done just fine with these things happening at a young age.

"god strikes again?" Lol. When I first started reading I assumed it was going to be a story of a girl whose parents would not let her be treated, thinking that "god" would heal her, or whatever. I had no idea that the title was in reference to the girls denenerate lifestyle(15 year old girl kissing her boyfriend. OMG! lol)

Vlad Tepes- you have a point but there IS a difference. This girl was not going to marry that boy, nor were they at all interested in producing children. She won't be able to marry, it might affect her career. So will child bearing. She'll postpone that until the age of 35 and probably have two to three failed marriages before that child.

lenny- the pic of the guy with the eyeglasses with the "billy in hell" sign was taken directly where i was standing, i remember it even. afterwards, de panama got them to sign his Fred Phelps:Hatemongers DVD. The little kid and a few of the girls were there. They were having shouting matches with everyone and standing on USA flags :D the Reverend himself couldn't come out but i sent my regards anyway.

well no i am putting it in perspective- a 15 year old today is far less mature than a 15 year old 200 years ago. or even 100 years ago. a 12 year old is capable of giving birth but would you want your daughter having a child at that age? no. anyone who would court a 12 year old is sick. a 15 year old is only a few steps above this. I see 15 year old girls and they are not women, they are giggly little idiots for the most part, certainly not mature enough to make rational desicions for themselves.
