Niklas Lindgren, the 'Haga Man' rapist sentenced to 14 years imprisonment earlier this year for a series of brutal attacks in Umeå, is demanding compensation from police for damage caused to his car during their investigation.

Police forensics experts cut up a seat belt in Lindgren's car as they searched for evidence linking him to the crimes, Västerbottens-kuriren reports.

Traces of blood on the seat belt were believed to have come from a woman whom Lindgren attacked and raped. Instead of sending the whole car to the laboratory in Linköping, the police cut off a section of the belt for examination.

Repairs to the belt cost 1,824 kronor, money Lindgren is now demanding from the police

Lindgren was convicted of a series of rapes and attempted murders in Umeå between 1998 and 2005. He was arrested in March, and convicted by Umeå district court on 19th July. An appeal court confirmed his conviction in October.

14 years for a series of rapes. What the hell? It should be more like 25 years! Considering he was given such a lax sentence, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually give him the money.

I'm really tired of hearing about criminals whining and complaining when they are the ones who have committed the crimes. A buddy of mine I used to hang out with every now and then when I was at the local juniour college had some guy break into his house. My friend, being an army ranger, kicked his ass. When the cops got there, the man was arrested, but accused my friend of excessive force. (His foot was on the criminal's head when the cops arrived.) Ultimately, my friend paid him off to shut him up. Absolutely ridiculous!

Criminals shouldn't be treated so nicely. They don't treat their victims as such.

This kind of crap only exists because the populace allows it. People get what they deserve.

There was a time when rapists were beaten within an inch of their life, dragged off to the furthest reaches of the hinterland, and deposited to lay alone and in pain while having plenty of time to think about what they did to bring themselves there.

Nowadays it is all about their rights.
Imprisonment is too good for the likes of this scum. Allowing such scum to not only exist but to bring a civil suit against the ones who brought him to justice is just how crazy this world has become.

He will probably win the lawsuit and have a nice little stash of money waiting for him when he gets released to rape some more.

Bah. Such ones need to suffer pain as their consequences and not a responsibility-free life in prison with money awaiting them upon their release back into society. And if they did not learn the lesson from the first offense beating, they need to be dispatched to the other side.

But then, that is just my opinion.

This is very typical. Here in Sweden it is actually the victims that get punished while the criminals go free when they aren't rewarded (!). Because of many years of socialist indoctrination it is common for people to feel bad for the criminals, since it's "not their fault". At the same time people - often the very same people - complain over criminality and the silly "punishments" they get, but they have no thought of actually changing anything by voting for someone else at the next election.
