I prefer music in the form of 'Absolute music', as Brahms put it - a kind of puritanical preference for something that is appreciated abstractly and which doesn't depend on any particular narrative for its impact.

That said, my favourites right now are Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell and Le Roi Arthus by Ernest Chausson.

I hate abstract thinking because it is impossible for me to understand.
Abstract music to me is like abstract art: Degenerate and serves no purpose.
