There is already a thread on this subject in the German forum (http://forum.codoh.com/viewtopic.php?t=3969) but since it is of great interest and importance to all users I will start a thread on it in the English language section.
The German Federal Minister of Justice, Brigitte Zypries, has announced that she will seek to accomplish an EU wide judicial repression of crimes "with political background" and "Holocaust denial" within the context of the German EU presidentship this year. Zypries also announced that a criminalization of "Volksverhetzung" (incitement against minorities) and "Holocaust denial" encompassing all of the EU member nations has hithertoo been impossible due to resistance from Italy, but that since the passing of the previous Berlusconi regime there has been signals from Rome of giving in.
In other words, its is possible that revisionism will be banned in those EU nations that has not previously had laws against "denial of the Holocaust" (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Italy, Malta, Greece, Luxemburg, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Ireland, Portugal and the UK) within the near future.

On the German Wikipedia page on Zypries (who is a leading member of the Social Democratic Party now in a ruling coalition with the Christian Democratic Party (to which PM Angela Merkel belongs)) one can read that Merkel in 2004 was awarded the "Big Brother Award" due to her previous attacks on civil rights in Germany. She should certainly be a nominee for the 2007 award!
