There were clashes between rival gangs of youths on the streets of Alcorón on Sunday, 13 kilometres to the south west of the Spanish capital.
The disturbances erupted in the same area which saw violent incidents on Saturday between opposing groups of Latin American and Spanish youngsters.
Reports on Sunday said the youths were throwing stones at police and passersby, and were setting fire to rubbish containers. Emergency services said they received calls that some were armed with baseball bats. Police were forced to move in with rubber bullets.
It appears the street fight was called via mobile phone text messages.
Four people were stabbed in Saturday’s altercation and seven people were taken into custody. Six of the seven arrests, who were all Latin Americans, said they were underage.
Police believe up to 100 people were involved in the street fight.
There are indications that the weekend’s violence may have all started after a confrontation between two Spanish youngsters and two others from the Dominican Republic on Friday night.
Latest news is now of 400 people involved.
