On my travels through China I acquired a geomancy compass or 'Luopan'.

It is an old one (with the outer dial marked into 365.25 degrees) unlike the "commercial' Feng Shui Luopan sold to tourists.

Having access to X-ray fluorescence equipment (via a contact at the IOM3 at CarltonTerrace in London) the alloy composition of the Luopan is not modern .

The dials are of course entirely described in Chinese characters, of which I know embarassingly few.

Has anyone on this site used one?, know how to use one?(to hopefully enlighten this old white soul).

Okay, I've talked it over with him and he said, there are many different ways that geomancy is done in different parts of China. May I ask where in China you found it?
