View Full Version : "Disgusting" Medical Pics in the Lyceum

If a person posts a relevant, clinical pic in a medically-related thread in the Lyceum, I don't think it should be censored because its "gross."

Do you people agree with me on this? Is there a policy on such matters? I didn't get to see the pic in question (from the HPV virus thread), because it was already censored, thus I can't judge it intelligently, and that bothers me in and of itself. Medical pics in Lyceum medical threads should not be censored due to squeamishness. This ain't Romper Room, after all.

It was not me who deleted them. I, in fact, did not even see them unti after they were reported and deleted. They were tasteless and gross on a level that made them inappropriate. We can all get the point of the topic at hand without the visuals. That would be my two cents, anyway.

If you can watch Holly Wood movies with strait razor female breast slashing, I
don't see any reason pictures of advanced anal orifice cancer, would offend
our modern world social sensitivities.

People view this forum from their jobs and university libraries. They should not have to be concerned that clicking on a thread will bring up a disgusting image. If you think a disgusting image is relevant, post a link to it accompanied by a sentence explaining what it is.

What is unreasonable about that? Must one post the image?

I agree with Jake. At work I browse the site with images turned off (to low-key it), so they display as links anyway. Perhaps editing the post to convert the images into links was reasonable, but I think banning the guy was excessive. Besides, getting "grossed out" is what high-school girls do.

He reposted hours later with the word "sorry" above it. He deserved a ban for insolence alone.

The first instance is perfectly defensible, the second instance proves he is a troll. Ban him.

I see users "These Moderators Eat Shit" and "Suck" Piss are watching this thread now. Hello trolls.

I approve of posting disgusting images but only if a link is put instead of the image itself and a warning in red is put next to the link. Like this people can decide whether they want to see the image or not.

For example like this:

WARNING*

Image (http://www.pointernet.pds.hu/Kutya/wallpapers/dog_003N.jpg)

*Not a disgusting image, just a picture of a cat and a dog to give an example of the layout.

I agree with Jake. Isn't the Phora supposed to be a FREE SPEECH FORUM? Can't people even stand to look at the consequences of being a slut? Are you serious about staring modern degeneracy in the face or are you just a bunch of pretentious poseur phaggots?

Anyway, I've taken steps to remedy the situation:

Tyler Durden would approve :D

The individual who posted those pics did so twice, even though the originals were deleted. He was clearly trolling. He has since then registered at least nine(9) troll accounts since then, and I highly suspect that it may be the kiddy-diddler who was banned shortly before.

Images which have a high potential to offend people, but are relevant to the topic at hand, should not be hotlinked, and should be accompanied by a warning. This is common sense.

Those pics made me want to lose my lunch...I can perceive intellectually that STDs are disgusting...I don't need to see up close, graphic pics of its effects. We aren't a bunch of sailors about to go on shore leave who need to be scared into not fraternizing with whores by horror movie-type pictures of genital rot.

You mean thee were close-up pix of open sores on reproductive organs and I missed them?

Fuck!

Having now seen them, thanks to Jack, its probably more wise and tasteful to link to those pics, rather than to actually display them, although I can't help but think that ought to be more up to the discretion of the poster than a hard & fast rule. If someone clicks on an HPV virus thread in the Lyceum, it should be clear they probably wouldn't want to be eating a sandwich at the time.

Jack linked to them. You can get to those links via post #10 in this thread.

I firmly believe that he is somebody new. He has a different manner of speech than Leshrac. Leshrac made errors that were consistent with the fact that he is not a native English speaker. OTOH, Grand Wizard did not.

BTW, Starr gave GW a ban for 2 weeks. A permaban is in order now that he's registered all of those sock-puppets.

Yes, I believe you are correct now.

Agreed.

I saw one of the pictures, briefly. I'm still trying to forget it. It's not asking too much for people to post a link with a warning in such cases. Some of us might actually want to have sex again at some point in the future.

This is supposed to be a place for intellectual discussion, and shock-value pics aren't conductive to that. In response to an earlier poster, there's nothing to be gained by "staring modern degeracy in the face". Better to understand it with the mind, and to understand why it is degeneracy.

Post links or thumbnails.

This applies to all large pictures in non-picture threads
