The whole "dressing up as women" thing is really quite fascinating. There are various explanations for it. Probably the best is that dressing up as a woman is actually present in some coming-of-age ceremonies among African tribes, and dressing up as a woman is thus supposed to frighten and confuse the enemy, by showing that the wearer is unpredictable and so forth, and also ward off bullets by confusing them.

And of course, a lot of the crazy colours and odd stuff being worn, while hardly awesome tactical-wear, might fall under "Young men being dumb". I mean, they're in the middle of the war, they're probably hopped up on all sorts of drugs, and they're not told what to do most of the time. "Why the fuck not" becomes their rationale for everything. That's just my hypothesis though.
