Thanks for the post. If the depth of the scholarship matches the breadth of topics to be covered, I imagine this book will be worth the read.

I'll keep an eye out for this one. I hope this is an honest and wholesome study of the issue and not just another New Right knee-jerking of America. I already critiqued many of de Benoist's (http://www.thephora.net/forum/showpost.php?p=345293&postcount=2) negative remarks about America.

Sadly, since Tomislav Sunic is the author, I have a bad feeling that this will just be another case of slightly articulated America-bashing. In fact I must admit my respect for Sunic has sunk considerably. Granted, many of his commentaries on nationalism are rather good. But other than that, he's often way off the mark.

This is especcially true in regards to his commentaries on Christianity. His essay "Marx, Moses And The Pagans In The Secular City" (http://home.alphalink.com.au/~radnat/tomsunic/sunic2.html) is worthless garbage for the most part.

Tomislav Sunic’s new book, Homo Americanus: Child of the Postmodern Age, is a call to bring back racialism, anti-egalitarianism, balkanization (http://thephora.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24903), etc. in large part by using the rhetoric and logic of postmodernists. He also warns that we are entering soft totalitarianism (http://thephora.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24386), where the ideology of the state is enforced through censorship, loss of one’s job, open slander against heretics, etc.

The book opens with a lengthy introduction by Kevin MacDonald, where he discusses group evolutionary strategy, gives some insights into his own dealings with the pseudoscientific arguments used against his work, and describes how hyper-morality found in Western man (http://thephora.net/forum/showthread.php?p=391318#post391318) that makes us such easy targets for exploitation, at some point will no longer be tolerated and Whites may once again take a stand to preserve their uniqueness.

Lupus, that article about Postmodernism was very interesting.

I certainly agree with much of this argument of Sunic's and have said this a few times before here:

Unlike most American racialists that concentrate on genes, genetics, crime, etc., Sunic is concerned that unlike Europe, we have little culture to bring us together: “The absence of a common cultural identity among white Americans seems to be the fundamental weakness of postmodern American nationalists, racialists and conservatives who, while not hiding their hostility to Jews, are unable to muster up common cultural and national energy for establishing their similar cultural and national uniqueness. Harping only on genetic determinism, as many eugenicists and modern American racialists do, in order to promote an abstract white man identity is self-defeating.” And one could add, that in missing a common culture, we lose a powerful weapon in challenging the egalitarian dogma through a visual display of unity and difference.
