Well, Thomas, I find this to be an extremely informative and insightful article well worth reading in it's entirety.

In the final analysis, he comes back to the ancient characteristics of strength, endurance, self-reliance, daring, intuition, and innate optimism. Focus, drive, and a strong sense of self-preservation. Values, principles, and goals. Realistic and valid assessments. And an awareness that for many years these characteristics of his ancestors saw him through many a troubled and dangerous time.
