Intrepid

I've never seen anything like this in my life. It's like WWWF of the diamond - with "hand grenade" rosin bags and "commando crawls".

How juvenile. It's AA regular season game, and the AA Braves are leading their division. Hardly worth losing your job/career over.
Embarrassing for the organization.

I'd love to see a major league manager do that.
The commando crawl/grenade bit was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Priceless. A nice chuck, too...
Ah, the minors. More pure entertainment than the Show is often enough.

I thought it was good fun. Baseball takes itself too seriously sometimes.

How did he miss the Knoxville Rally?
Great video. The country-club snobs bemoaning Wellman's antics as "the death of the game's integrity" get up my nose. This is closer in spirit to the real, rowdy roots of the game than all the Vin Scully home-run calls in Christendom laid end to end.

Bob Costas and George Will would not approve.
The John McGraw Baltimore Orioles, the Gas House Gang, etc...had some character and some balls. It's Corporate nowadays, my friends. DHin', no complete game throwin', disabled list dwellin', steroid-eatin', platoonin' pussified rich guys.

I'm not a baseball-worshipper, but it's just a bit too awkward to strike me as funny. The best part was indeed the commando crawling/grenade tossing, but even then you can see the home plate umpire calmly watching Wellman, the way a father might wait for his little boy's tantrum to die out before sitting him down for a talk. Embarrassing.

The guys on the field were just laughing. That must have been a great night at the ball park. Why get upset? Its not like he did a Roberto Alomar.

Nah, I'm not upset, I was just clarifying my position, given that I was quoted. It's just baseball, and the drama was silly, not serious.

Ya, he didn't chimp out and hurt anyone. It was good fun at the old ballpark. It's not like this happens all the time.
I noticed the guys on the field laughing like hell. The commando/grenade thing was classic.

I agree that you have to maintain order during a ballgame, Scryllak. No doubt. But sometimes these things happen to blow off the steam.
I wish Jim Tracey would mount a mortar attack to get the Buccos going in the right direction.
