Weird, Alkaseltzer and natural juices have always helped me out.

LONDON (Reuters) - Forget aspirins, hairs of dogs and hot baths, the only sure way of avoiding a hangover is not to drink in the first place, according to a new study.
Researchers led by Max Pittler of the Peninsular Medical School at Exeter University, surfed the Internet and combed medical databases to study a range of hangover cures from the traditional to the novel.
Their research roamed from the humble aspirin to fructose, artichokes and even prickly pears but found no silver bullet.
However, they did hold out some hope for the potential of borage, a bright blue herb with star-shaped flowers used traditionally to decorate gin-based summer cocktails.
But their conclusions were sobering.
"No compelling evidence exists to suggest that any complementary or conventional intervention is effective for treating or preventing alcohol hangover," they wrote in the British Medical Journal on Friday.
"The most effective way to avoid the symptoms of alcohol-induced hangover is thus to practice abstinence or moderation," the added.

Drink a huge glass of water before you go to bed.

Damn, now why didn't I think of that? They need to conduct a study to come to this conclusion?
The only thing that I have found that truly works is if you eat like a pig after you stop drinking. I diet all throughout the week and allow myself to eat whatever I want one day of the week(very healthy, I know. LOL:nono: )I plan that one day around my drinking night, and haven't had a really bad hangover in a long time.

It also depends on what sort of alcohol you indulge in. Liquors give me quite a headache compared to say Vodka.

Vodka was a liquor last I checked...
My amazing hangover cure is: Once you realise you're in any way inebriated, stick your mouth under a water tap, and drink until your stomach is full.

Yeah your hangover is directly related to you being dehydrated, its as simple as that, if you rehydrate before you sleep and have a glass ready in the morning with some paracetamol you have no excuse unless lack of sleep.

If the resident Irishman tells you about drunkenness and hangovers, best gather around and listen children. :D

Word up :D I even got in a fight last night and spent like 2 hours in A&E with a cracked nose. It was an even fight apparently but I dont remember one bit of it, regardless there is no more unsettling experience than Xmas Eve in a hospital, it was immigration fest 05.

Good ol Irish.
This study, like most studies, is worthless crap. Maybe I can't say anything because I don't get hangovers anyway but there are two things you should do before sleeping: Eat bread and perhaps take some vitamin B complex. Coffee and such also helps I just don't like it.

Bread is good because it's ballast. Drinking on an empty stomach is bad.
Basically: Eat something, and drink a bunch of water.

Ok...eat stuff, drink lots of mineralizing fluids, some paracetamol in the morning..and voilá..back to the tavern.

I nolonger drink but when I did I stumbled upon the one guaranteed hangover 'cure': a B-multiple vitamin, either 50 or 100 mg
The trick is you take it at least 30 mins BEFORE you start boozing. Nibble something along with it: a cracker, a celery stick...something to help your system absorb and assimilate the vitamin. Now go out and drink yourself pie-eyed.
Now I'm not saying you'll wake up feeling ready to run a marathon. Depending on how tanked you got, you'll be woozy; maybe even a little peaked. But the Vitamin B will stave off that gray corpse pallor and the two days of alternately puking and praying for death hangover. You'll be fully operatinal again by nightfall. And it works 100% of the time.

Alternatively and since we are at this issue....What would have been your worst hangover ever?

I woke up with a shaved head and a cut across my eyebrow worthy of a few stitches. And this happened... yesterday.

First time I got drunk I ended up puking at my mom's work. It was in the toilets though. People always say that last part makes the story far less interesting.

LOL...That makes me recall that one time I got so wasted that when a worried friend pointed me out to the bathroom so that I would not puke all over the place. Yes, I reached the bathroom went into the WC but just sat there puking over my shoes :D

Current hangover is always the worst one. Always was and always will be.
And it shouldn't be treated with paracetamols, vitamins and other substances - it's part of the thrill. It helps one realise what a complete idiot he is. It also helps him decide never to drink anymore.
BTW, I can handle drink very well. I've puked only twice, and it was when I was 23 and when I found out I wasn't capable of mixing drinks anymore. Beside the one time when I got poisoned with bad vodka and since when I've never drinked any vodka but Russian anymore. However, I'm not immune to hangover, and I heal it with sound sleep.

Oh, I asked them to do it. I remember everything. That said, I do prefer my normal hair to my 2mm buzz-cut.

A drunken friend of mine once puked on his new sneakers while sitting on a bus. The driver wasn't amused. I witnessed it and it amused me though, seeing his expensive but buttugly sneakers in that state.
