Anyone want to takes bets on whether anything ever comes of this Ape's having had sex with a 14yo minor, or of him imprisoning a 16yo in his house?

AN HIV-positive man had unprotected sex with females as young as 14, a court heard yesterday.

The Geelong Magistrates Court was also told that Lam Kuoth had been detained by the Department of Human Services for a month earlier this year because of the risk he posed to the community, but was released.
Kuoth was arrested yesterday by detectives from the sexual crimes squad who charged him with recklessly engaging in conduct by having unprotected sex with a 24-year-old woman on April 22.
The court heard that the woman told police she met Kuoth through Sudanese friends and after going to a Prahran nightclub she took him back to her home where they had sex five times.
"He did not disclose his HIV status and he did not use a condom," Detective Senior Constable Gregory Nunn said. "She did not know he was HIV-positive. He did not tell her."
The court heard that Kuoth, of the Geelong suburb of Norlane, arrived in Australia from Sudan last July and was diagnosed HIV-positive in October.
While Senior Constable Nunn said the woman had not contracted the virus, he added that another woman, 26, had since been diagnosed HIV-positive after having sex with Kuoth. She was pregnant. She had not made a statement to police but Senior Constable Nunn told the court he believed other charges against Kuoth would be laid after police spoke to a 16-year-old girl who said she had sex with Kuoth on 10 occasions.
The girl had told police Kuoth walked the streets looking to have sex. "She believes he has had numerous sexual partners, some as young as 14," Senior Constable Nunn said, adding that the girl's friend, also 16, was held captive" by Kuoth in his home before she escaped.
The court heard Kuoth was taken to the secure Thomas Embling Hospital on April 27 under a public health order but was released a month later. Senior Constable Nunn said he was unsure why Kuoth was released.
A Department of Human Services spokesman said the department was aware of the charge against Kuoth. "As this is now a police matter, no further specific comment can be made," he said.
"However, in broader terms, there has been strengthened communication between police and public health officials on matters where individuals are engaging in behaviour that may place the public at risk."
Senior Constable Nunn told the court the case against Kuoth was strong and he should be refused bail because he was an unacceptable risk to the community.
Kuoth's lawyer, Mary Foley, said her client was not a flight risk and had no prior history of offending.
Ms Foley said Kuoth, who works in a Colac abattoir, denied the allegations.
Magistrate Jon Klestadt remanded Kuoth in custody. The bail application continues this afternoon.
Kuoth, dressed in white tracksuit pants and a cream top, was handcuffed and escorted to the court by detectives wearing rubber gloves. In court, he was helped by an interpreter.
