This is high culture in my country and the Phora is based in the US. Move it back.

You two should listen to this CD before you shoot off your Eurotrash mouths about it not being high culture.

While I'm certainly no fan of American culture, Comrade Shays is certainly correct here; both the original score for the movie and the movie (Home Alone) are in fact pure gold! I honestly (and proudly) can say I've seen this movie more than 2 dozen times, and I have the motion picture soundtrack and listen to it regularly. If the soundtrack to Home Alone is not considered High Culture, I don't know what is

Did so. John Williams is a genious.

Lord of the Rings is trash - in no way, shape, or form does it compare to the heroic (yet futile) attempts by the two proletarian heroes trying to take what is rightfully theirs from the parasitic family of Kevin McCallister and his family in their Chicago suburban palace.
BTW, the musical score by John Williams was nominated for an oscar in 1990 (or 91).

Info on John Williams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Williams)
Williams is a respectable American conductor, who has put six decades of his life into conducting, performing, and composing.

I always rooted for Harry and Marv. In LiNY I think Chris Colombus depicts the plight of the American proletariat all too well when inside the huge "Duncan's Toy Chest", Harry and Marv have to hide in that tiny dumbbell tenement of a playhouse. Then old man Duncan gives the turtledoves to spoiled brat / trout-sniffer Kevin. The only McCallisters I sympathize with are Buzz and the Uncle.

This is extreme pablum - vapid, saccharine and willfully stupid. It's muzak, it's daytime housewife TV, it's pink noise, it's filler, it's sedative.

This doesn't belong in the same forum as Ugly American's movie reviews for fucks sake... This is a John Williams score.

John Williams is indeed talented, and his scores enhance the movies that they are set to. However, his music is far too Wagnerian for my taste.

Why was this moved from High Culture? Did the moderator even bother to listen to the CD?

Jeez... the church scene with the grandpa whom everyones thinks a serial killer with "Oh Holy Night" on orchestral almost bring tears to my eyes.
How is that not high culture ? One of the best, if not the best youngs movie of the early 90's.

Wow, and I thought I was the only person who rooted for Harry and Marv!
Thank you for the CD Shays, if I had any rep left I'd give it to you!

Agreed with Atlas and Ix, this should definitely be in High Culture - not the gutter.
