Canada blames U.S. for gun violence.

TORONTO, Ontario (AP) -- Canadian officials, seeking to make sense of another fatal shooting in what has been a record year for gun-related deaths, said Tuesday that along with a host of social ills, part of the problem stemmed from what they said was the United States exporting its violence.

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Toronto Mayor David Miller warned that Canada could become like the United States after gunfire erupted Monday on a busy street filled with holiday shoppers, killing a 15-year-old girl and wounding six bystanders -- the latest victims in a record surge in gun violence in Toronto.

The shooting stemmed from a dispute among a group of 10 to 15 youth, and the victim was a teenager out with a parent near a popular shopping mall, police said Tuesday.

"I think it's a day that Toronto has finally lost its innocence," Det. Sgt. Savas Kyriacou said. "It was a tragic loss and tragic day."

While many Canadians take pride in Canadian cities being less violent than their American counterparts, Toronto has seen 78 murders this year, including a record 52 gun-related deaths -- almost twice as many as last year.

"What happened yesterday was appalling. You just don't expect it in a Canadian city," the mayor said.

"It's a sign that the lack of gun laws in the U.S. is allowing guns to flood across the border that are literally being used to kill people in the streets of Toronto," Miller said.

I don't know a whole hell of a lot about the racial makeup of the city or cities talked about, but I am going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess that the majority of these "gun crimes" were committed by non-whites, which of course is not going to get any mention in the article. You gotta love these fools that cry about guns and would not dare even think about anything else when they bitch about "the violence." I guess guns often go off by themselves. Often when they are around minorities. Maybe guns are racist.:(

Dammit don't say that! :p I don't want to accept this reality. Toronto is my hometown. I was born and raised there. :o But alas. It's pretty much moving into that direction.

As for the racial makeup of the city I had some good hard stats but I can't find them anymore. Apparently 42.8% of Toronto's population (not the Greater Toronto area but the city of Toronto itself) is composed of "visible minorities" with a further 6.9% being jews including Mayor David Miller (note that jews dont count as visible minorities). So in effect Toronto would pretty much be 50.3% white. This is very borderline.

And note that Toronto is certaintly no small city: It has 2.5m+ people. Now imagine almost half that being non-white (if by white you mean european descent of course). I think the exact figure for blacks is 8.3%. As for the gun violence, a large share of it is committed by "canadians" of afro-carribbean descent. They are usually first/second/sometimes third gens of Jamaican descent I think. But of course the media doesn't want you to know that.

Toronto is quite safe especially for a city its size and when you compare it to major cities in the U.S and parts of Western Europe. But when the city has 78 murders including 52 firearm related deaths... that's unheard of in Toronto. I have never seen the numbers that high. In the U.S they probably will laugh at those figures but this bitter fact is definately not something that Canada's neo-flowerchildren government and population is prepared to swallow.

However I absolutely hate it when people say that because Toronto is relatively safe (however with the rise of gun violence, this could change), it's proof that multiculturalism works since Toronto is the "cultural mosaic" of Canada. They fail to recognize that about half the inmates in Toronto are black (though Niccolo says that half is a "safe estimation", probably more) even though they make up only 8.3% of the city. Sure Toronto is relatively safe NOW but one can't ignore that blacks are causing a lot of the ruckus that is already happening here.

I am not pleased. I'm not the only one from Toronto here, there are people here who still live there and they probably hate this more than I do. Why is our pansy-ass Liberal government going to continue bringing in immigration? Just recently they increased the quota to 328,000 (about 1% of the total pop) annually. And you know what's going to happen? They're gonna settle in the Toronto area... including my suburb which is already 6.9% black and 40+% non-white. There was even some gun violence over here though obviously its much safer than the actual city of Toronto. If they bring in more blacks and muslims I definately am going to move to Ajax, Ontario when I have a family or some other place in "white suburbia". I don't want to be around to enjoy this beautiful multiculturalism when it starts biting us in the ass hardcore.

I just talked with my parents about this... about how the jamaican 1st/2nd generation are causing trouble in Toronto and my dad said to me, "well the canadian media can't report that they are jamaican" (implying that the media is too politically correct) however he didn't say much more than that. When I approached this to my mother she didn't say anything and ignored me. My parents are immigrants themselves and moved here in the late 60s. How can they not care that Toronto, the city they originally settled in Canada, is going to ruins? Sometimes I wonder if the PC-police is pacifying even the older generation. This totally flies in the face of the stereotype of "being taught to be a racist" by your parents. I wasn't taught by anyone, I learned to dislike (most) blacks by living here and in Toronto. Most people here I would imagine have PC parents as well right? Though my dad isn't so PC when he's angry. :D

Dammit how come we don't have a "Cronulla Revolution" over there? Oh wait that's not good cause the niggers would probably be "refugees" who would jump over to this western suburb. :rolleyes: We have enough niggers here already as well.
