Star Trek is 'most missed' series
Sci-fi series Star Trek is the show most people want to see returned to their TV screens, a survey has found. Originally broadcast in the US in 1966, it topped a poll of more than 1,000 viewers commissioned by UK interactive TV firm Home Media Networks.
Fantasy action series Buffy the Vampire Slayer was second, followed by long-running sitcom Friends.
Star Trek's latest spin-off TV series, Enterprise, was axed in February following poor ratings. . . .

Is Star Trek gone for good? Are they coming out with a new series?

No idea, although I haven't heard of The Sopranos, which I loved, since a while, does that serie still exist ?

I never watched any episodes of Enterprise, but Voyager was one long ode to humanitarianism.

They said they will be back...but not anytime soon. It took them 30 years between first show(ToS) and 'The Next Generations'(TNG). Hope it won't take them so much between Enterprise and this new-to-come show in the future.

The Ferengi always reminded me of the Jews.

The Ferengi always reminded me of the Jews.
And were played by Jewish actors.

I actually liked the latest "Enterprise". It was very fresh, no race mixing orgies yet, a reckless Captain that blunders severely several times.
Yeah, I also heard that the idea was come back but after a lenghty break. But then who knows what that means if you do have a big demand for that product.
Personally I like the new Battlestar Galactica better..so dark and gloomey.

I also like 'Enteprise'. At first time I hated it, but later it got better. Just when they got better they cut it off...blah...
Oh and about Ferengi:

The original Star Trek series was excellent, but I found the subsequent spin-offs lacking.

ToS is legend because it was the first, but objectively compared to TNG and DS9 it's pure trash. :p

I also miss Star Trek. However 'Voyager' and 'Enterprise' sucked, whilst the other three were good.
There have been rumors for AGES that there will be a series entitled "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" and that is what I would like to see next time around. In the mean time they do create lots of Star Trek Pulp Fiction that I like to read.
There is just alot to like in Star Trek. The Klingons are Cool Space Vikings. The Feringi are jews.
Be sure to check out this good essay: The Fascist Ideology of Star Trek: Militarism, Collectivism, & Atheism (http://www.friesian.com/trek.htm) (although as a Pagan I disagree with the Atheism stuff)
