I think it ties in to the ways in which young males are manipulated/persuaded into fighting war, or why they commit violence in general. I can think of 3 reasons:

- War booty. Ego gratification. Rape, pillage and conquest etc.
- Duty. Manipulation of feelings of obligation (via guilt). I think the key element of this is the obligation to defend women & children, whether one's own or a via proxy (concrete or symbolic).
- Honour. Seeking payback for some kind of insult. Machismo: primarily all about "impressing chicks". Defending one's status as "top dog". If it's not then it falls under duty (in the form of loyalty to a - often female pesonified - higher ideal).

Suppose the male doesn't really want to go off to war and get killed. In this case duty is probably operative factor. This means: resentment against who/what is imposing the duty on him. Resentment against the feminine for being weak and requiring protection. "Didn't your mother ever teach you right from wrong?" etc. Mother also associated with social/familial expectations to make something of yourself - "make your momma proud" and so on. A new public relations effort by Israel's New York consulate wants the country known less for its conflict with the Palestinians or for its myriad holy sites than for its beautiful women in uniform. Or, more accurately, out of uniform.

A spread in the upcoming July issue of Maxim features a roster of Israeli models, all ex-soldiers, photographed wearing very little in the cause of their country. Headlined "Women of the Israel Defense Forces," the campaign has already been criticized as inappropriate in Israel.

The Maxim shoot presents Israeli models including Nivit Bash, who served in military intelligence though the only remnant of an army career evident in her photograph on the magazine's Web site is a military-style black cap that matches a minimal swimsuit.

Gal Gadot, a former Miss Israel and army fitness instructor, appears in a bikini and high heels sprawled provocatively on the ledge of a Tel Aviv high-rise. The photo also landed her on the cover of the New York Post below an equally provocative headline, "Piece in the Mideast."

The idea originated in the media office at Israel's consulate in New York, where research showed that Israel meant little to young American men.

"Males that age have no feeling toward Israel one way or another, and we view that as a problem, so we came up with an idea that would be appealing to them," said David Dorfman, a media adviser at the consulate.

Maxim's popularity with that demographic led to the partnership.

"Maxim was approached by the Israeli consulate to be a part of reshaping Israel's public image, specifically because of our unmatched mainstream reach to men aged 18 to 35," the magazine said in a statement. "We are pleased with the result of our work together."

Seriously, this shit is so blatant sometimes it hurts me to see people not get it. It's always done through the women.

A lot of people have this idea that esotericism and the occult is all about reading tea-leaves, worshipping crystals and stuff like that. That's an understandable impression to get given the amount of bullshit that's out there, and some of the high-level (in the sense of abstraction, not "advanced") stuff can seem like that sometimes too. But once you familiarise yourself with the mythical content of reality, and especially the archetypes, and start to spot them cropping up in the news and coming out of people's mouths via their second hand "opinions", you can start to put the hive mind of our collective cultural soul on the couch and look at what's percolating up from below the surface of the water. Suddenly, this stuff becomes oh-so-easy to spot. You just need to make your unconscious mind conscious, and then other people won't be able to lead you around by it. So wake up!
