This should be a felonious assault, not second-degree assault.

Former major league All-Star Jose Offerman was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after hitting an opposing team's pitcher and catcher with his bat during an independent minor league game.

I disagree....

Catcher John Nathans was hit in the head and sustained a concussion. He tried to keep playing, but left the game with nausea and collapsed in the dugout, team spokesman Nick Razzette said

Someone with the strength of a pro baseball player hitting someone in the head with a bat is attempted murder.

Un-freaking-believeble.

I agree with Hachiko, that should be treated as attempted murder. Not just because of his strength but the fact that he aimed for his head.

Especially in light of the fact that while the batter wears a helmet, that pitcher is just wearing a regular cloth, baseball cap. He could easily be dead. Sometimes brain injuries don't show up right away, so he may still die. Anytime you get intentionally hit on the head (barring self-defense, etc.) hard enough to induce nausea, it should be felonious at the very least.

Just using a baseball bat with any semblance of force against another human being should be treated as attempted murder, IMO.

It is no different from stabbing someone, essentially, or even shooting them. You can very easily be killed by any of these.

This is all true of course, however Justice is not blind to celebrities and indifferent to many others.

For example, this Remy Ma chick who recently shot her friend previously was arrested for pointing a gun at a man's face and pulling the trigger. Somehow she missed, but was only charged with assault and did 0 time. WTF?

LOL Jose Offerman used to be 2nd baseman for the Red Sox, but that's nothing compared to when Izzy Alcantara kicked the catcher in the head then proceeded to punch the pitcher :D
