Protestants Targeted by Romanist Mob
Numerous innocent protestants injured by Catholic thugs!

A leading member of a Newtownstewart Loyalist band, whose bus was targeted in an attack as it returned from an Apprentice Boys parade in Derry on Saturday, has described the incident as 'purely sectarian'.

Four people were injured when Roman Catholic stone-throwers at Strabane's bypass smashed the window of the bus ferrying members of the Red Hand Defenders Flute Band home from the annual gathering.

One of the injured had to be treated at Altnagelvin Hospital after sustaining an eye injury during the incident.

The band master of the Red Hand Defenders, who did not wish to be identified, told the Ulster Herald the incident was extremely traumatic for those onboard. He said, "We were travelling along the bypass close to Carlton Drive at around 5.30pm on Saturday when we heard the bang. It was like a gunshot and suddenly a side window came in.

"One of the female flag carriers was in the seat at the time, but thankfully she had her back to the window, otherwise she would have been very seriously injured. Four of our band members were struck by flying glass and had to be treated for their injuries, the rest of us were badly shaken up," he explained.

The spokesperson revealed that the attack was the third on the bus in as many years, and as a result some of the younger members have refused to travel by bus again.

"This has to be purely sectarian," he said. "It was the third year in a row we were targeted so whoever was responsible must have been waiting for us. Whatever their motivation, I can honestly say we were not displaying any emblems nor did we provoke this attack in anyway," he added.

The bus attack was the second along Strabane's bypass in less than a fortnight. A group of American tourists were also targetted recently as they returned along the same route from a day out in Donegal.

July 12th last year I spent the day in Donegal , up near Malin Head.
The way home took me over this road - several guys waiting at junctions trying to look casual , with a nearby supply of rocks and bricks - waiting for buses coming back from 12th July parades.
This is nothing new , a regular "event".
I think lenny the protestant / Romanist angle is one of a similar mindset to the guys who threw the stones - they evidently assumed the bus carrying American tourists was coming from a parade as well.

The thread title is misleading, these people were attacked as Orange supremacist bigots and not as protestants. People on the other side are fed up with these bigots coming in to insult them in their own communities. Most Protestants are not Orangemen.

The thread title is misleading, these people were attacked as Orange supremacist bigots and not as protestants. These protestants are holding peaceful marches on their own national soil. How can you in good conscience claim to justify violent attacks on them, and twist things up so as to actually blame the peaceful protestants themselves for getting attacked by these thugs?

I'm reminded of the behavior of our black brothers. It's never "their fault" if they riot and smash things up and burn things and beat people up, it's the White Man's fault for "provoking them". How exactly Evil White Man did this is always unclear.

They traditionally go to nationalist areas to give calculated offence. That is the whole point of Orange marches - to remind them of their subjugation. But the taigs are not taking it anymore and refuse to be insulted in their own communities. So don't come here with this peaceful marches crap. Have you ever actually seen an Orange march?

So Person-A hurting Person-B's feelings gives B the right to attempt to murder A?

To not be a heretic is to accept that someone not on our side is the infallible (yeah yeah they have to be in the chair speaking ex cathedra) voice of god...

No thanks.

Well, it certainly has strong cultural resonance today, still.

These butthole Christians shouldn't be beating on each other, they should be banding together against the Muslims.

A good clip, thanks.

If you are in any way interested, here's a site with media presentations that should get Roman Catholic (perhaps also Orthodox) blood boiling:
