Many Italians are not White. Those coming from the north are mostly White, but those in the south are mostly of mixed race. Pius does not look very White to me so my guess is that he is from the south of Italy.

It has two different meanings: the colour of your skin and your race. Race and colour are two different things. A black person may have a white skin (http://usuarios.lycos.es/sokodjou/hpbimg/albinos.jpg) (albino), but that doesn't make him a true European (which has a white skin colour). There are some people that define jews as white but maybe they say it is so because of the skin colour. Jews are in fact a mixture of several different races and are, thus, not European.
