Hey all. I was wondering what the general opinion of the poems of Ossian are around here, he seems a bit unknown these days, I only learned of him recently by reading Goethe. I ask this because a local book dealer as the complete set of his works in a 2 volume hardcover bound set, for 80 dollars Canadian (though I could probably haggle for less). Would it be worth it? The books in question are very old, early 20th century.

The Poems of "Ossian" are completely out of fashion, especially because everybody knows it's a forgery. But I like reading them.

Don't buy the books for the poems because you will be able to find them on the net. Maybe the books themselves are worth it. I never saw them and I am surprised they were reprinted as late as a century ago.
