Word up nigguz.
Ok, my lecturer knows I like to watch South Park and a journal on Popular Culture (one of those interdisciplanary journals you get these days) wants some article about South Park.
Now I started writing away on the episode Quest for Ratings but I'm basically stuck for ideas, if you think South Park is important of good at satire etc. why, why do you think it works?
I have basically got free reign on this and I work better when I'm focusing on stuff thats a little more out there and not in the public domain but hey he asked me to do it and its looks good when youre throwing in applications for departments to have at least one Pop Culture bullshit essay.
So South Park discussion here :D

I don't think I've seen the Quest For Ratings episode, but with South Park, you shouldn't focus on any one episode. There is a consistant theme throughout the series. They attack everything that any thinking person would consider to be out of the realm of common sense, without regard to left, right, or center ideological labels that a particular issue might have. That's why the show has been such a long term success.
If you are going to focus on an episode, focus on the one where that one kid sold his pubes to Cartman. Not because any deep meaning can be extrapolated therefrom, but because that was, by far, the funniest episode I've seen of Southpark.

Or the "Goobacks" episode or "The Passion of the Jew", if you intend to make a more serious approach with hot issues. Anyway, you've got plenty of choice, Synikul was 100% right.

 One of the best episodes and probably one of the worst essays it would make.

That IS the best episode. Because it isn't one of the ones where two jackasses decide that they have to be political and topical. It's just hilarious.

I love South Park. I used to follow the show in its first season religiously when I was a pre-teen (I would like stay up friday nights to midnight to watch it. :D) but then I got bored with it in 2nd season (It kind of seemed stupid to me at first when Eric Cartman's mom was a hermaphrodite) and only saw it here and there after that. But then I downloaded all the episodes and have been starting to catch up on what I missed (some of it is crap but there is lots of quality in the series). I am surprised South Park has lasted this long (over 8 and a half years). The Simpsons has lasted quite awhile now as well but the series got stale the last time I watched it. The Passion of the Jew was hilarious. I also liked how the "Global Warming" episode (which is kinda recent), it seemed like a knock off of Katrina but it would have been even cooler if they were more unPC in how they did it. :D
Btw which episode in particular (season and episode name/number) is the one where the pubes are sold to Cartman? I gotta see that, I have a whole lot of episodes that need watching. :D

One of worst episodes ever, almost as bad as Jackofasaurs.

Scott Tenorman Must Die is a funny episode but Sexual Harassment Panda is still the best.
