Okay, I moved into the city a few months ago. My apartment complex backs up right onto a cemetery, probably about 10 acres big. On weekends when I'm up late at night, I hear these wonderful howls coming from it. Since they aren't barks, they sound like no other dog I've ever heard. I've even had blue heelers (which are half dingo) all of my life and they bark, not howl.
My girlfriend (who is from West Texas where there are tons of coyotes) and I just listened to them. We came to the conclusion that the tone of their howl is a little deeper than a coyote's and too high to be something like a bloodhound, but still is unlike any domesticated dog.
Is it possible that a small pack of feral dogs could live in a cemetery and have reverted from the bark to the howl?
