Woman abducted, rapedBethlehem - Police have arrested seven Congolese for being in South Africa illegally after one of them allegedly abducted and raped a woman in Harrismith, eastern Free State, on Christmas Day.
The 18-year-old woman was apparently bundled into a Iveco minibus taxi while walking in the town's Tshiame B section.
Constable Christopher Mophiring said she was held against her will and raped at least twice before being sent by her abductor to buy food for the group on Wednesday.
He followed her, but was accosted, overpowered and arrested by her 30-year-old brother when she bumped in to him and an 18-year-old friend in town.
Her brother took the man to the Harrismith police station where cases of rape and abduction were opened.
Police found the other six Congolese in a search of the house where the woman was held.
