A robbery and shooting sent a 20-year-old Savannah woman to the hospital where she's in serious condition.

3 men approached Jennifer Ross and three friends early Saturday morning. The four were walking through Orleans Square after attending a cotillion when the men demanded the groups money. The robbers pistol whipped one of Ross' friends and another tried to grab her purse. During the struggle, Ross was shot in the back. Her godmother, County Commissioner Helen Stone, is outraged about the recent crime.

Ross has already been through two surgeries and is scheduled for a third later this week. She is listed in serious condition at Memorial Health.

Police are still looking for the suspects in the armed robbery and shooting. Anyone with information can call crimestoppers at 234-2020.

A 19-year-old college student shot during an armed robbery died on New Year's Day.

Jennifer Ross died Sunday night at Memorial Health University Medical Center, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police said.

Ross was taken to the hospital early Christmas Eve after she was shot while walking through Orleans Square with several friends.

Although she was never released, hospital reports showed her condition was improving.

On Friday, the victim's mother, Coren Ross, said the student was able to talk and sit up. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives interviewed her on Friday.

A hospital spokesman confirmed Ross' death Sunday, but said he could not release a cause of death.

I think that depends more on the type of neighborhood they were in. If this was a high crime, nigger area where shit like this and worse is likely to occur I would agree. We don't even need to bring up the most obvious fact that these animals shouldn't be allowed to roam the streets and rob and kill people without a bullet in the head or meeting the end of a rope.

My mother was crazy enough at one time to chase down a nigger who snatched her purse, and the funny part is that the nigger ended up dropping her purse with everything still in it, so it worked to her advantage even though it was an incredibly stupid thing to do.

I think he might have dropped it intentionally since she was throwing things at him and yelling for the police(a station was nearby). The scary part is I have no idea what she was planning to do if she caught up with him. She had nothing on her with the exception of some mace.
