Well, it's been a year since the 'Great OD Hack' of 2006. Time for a 'beginning of the new year status report' on how forum recovery is going.
-- the 2002-2005 archives have been uploaded to a server, and imported into a database.
-- domain name is in the works. Temporarily, I am hosting it at anglolatin.com. This name should change in a day or two.
-- 'scaffolding' code has been written to allow minimum, barebones access.
-- Full Text Search is in the works
-- Nicer presentation and various icing-on-the-cake features is in the works.
But, you ask, what is working RIGHT NOW??
Well, check it out. This new code is accessed starting here:
http://anglolatin.com/od/allusers.html
This gives a list of all usernames in the 'posts' table being recovered, and a link for each one -- yes, it is now possible to find 'all your old posts'. I give
you the first 10 lines or so of each post, so you can get a sense of context
-- yes, I know that there are no forums, thread titles, or stuff like that.
Here, for example are all posts by Yggdrasil:
http://anglolatin.com/cgi-bin/oneuser.cgi?username=Yggdrasil
In fact, you can put fragments of a name in to search if you like:
http://anglolatin.com/cgi-bin/oneuser.cgi?username=Ygg
Some queries, like Okie, will bring up big pages.
-- yes, I know I am not sanitising the HTML formatting so the page display is quite funky.
-- BBCODE to HTML formatting is implemented, but more or less exactly the same as show previously.
-- I now hate persons who cut and paste HTML tables with a burning, fiery passion.
Each post has a link next to it, leading to the thread it was part of:
http://anglolatin.com/cgi-bin/showthread.cgi?threadid=12726
Warning: Don't feel the need to download all your posts or make a copy of the whole database screen by screen. And certainly don't try cutting and pasting them all into new threads. vBulletin formatting is better when cut and pasted raw (mostly). In a few days, I'll have an HTML text box up to make it easy for you to cut and paste. Also, there is a 'home edition' in the works. Please don't feel you have to overload the new site with your screen scraping. Just browse, reminisce, and enjoy for now.

What about Martin Lindstedt's posts:
http://anglolatin.com/cgi-bin/oneuser.cgi?username=Martin
-- As a bonus, I've added links to the Wayback Machine (archive.org) and the former OD Recovery tool at the top of every thread. Maybe you will get lucky.
Happy New Year OD!
