Something to ponder.

Do the Irish suffer, because of their fierce Nationalism ?

Are the Irish any more nationalistic than other peoples?

If you define your question and your own views more precisely it would be easier to respond.

I think there is a widespread public perception that the Irish are very Nationalistic (because of the N.Ireland situation).

Does this accurately reflects the Irish character ?

I suppose the Irish are the ones to tell!

As far as I know thats run by one guy. Thats fair play, but 'people' is the wrong word.

Modern Irish people suffer from 'whether to buy a second home in Spain' or 'Is it vanity to have three cars'? Northern Ireland is somewhere to go shopping and visit the Giant's Causeway. In fact I don't think the Irish are fiercely nationalistic anymore at least in the sense that is being hinted at here. [I can only speak for those Irish I know well. Other people may have different versions down their own way].

They are, however, very tribalistic when faced with the outsider. The Irish abroad can be compared with the Jews in some significant ways.
