Anybody have an interest in Indian history, especially around 1800-1910 or so, although any general surveys covering Indian history would be helpful.

Pehraps a long shot but I am sure some of you have an interest in British imperialism and can help.

Basically give me your book recommendations if you have anyway, cheers.

I just read parts of book on India under the Moghuls a couple of months ago. It wasn't bad. I'll get the title and author sometime this week. The truth of the matter is British 'imperialism' in India was a profound blessing to those people, no doubt at all.

I can recommend Lawrence James' "Raj: The Making of British India" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0316640727/qid=1138559352/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/026-0082888-0657219).

"A History of British India under the company and the crown" by PE Roberts (1921) and Pax Britannica by Jan Morris (actually about empire in general but covers India very well in the 3-volume version) are two I've read.
