COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) -- The Muslim group that spearheaded criticism of a Danish newspaper for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad said Tuesday it accepted the paper's apology.

The publication of cartoons deemed insulting to Islam's prophet in the Jyllands-Posten sparked widespread anger in the Muslim world, including boycotts of Danish products. The newspaper published an apology late Monday.

Earlier Monday, Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said his government could not apologize on behalf of a newspaper, but said he personally "never would have depicted Muhammad, Jesus or any other religious character in a way that could offend other people." . . .

It's a bit rich that Muslims are so touchy about desecration of their sacred symbols, given that their entire "political process" seems to be based around desecrating the symbols of other people's identities (e.g. flag burning, burning effigies). If you ask me, burning effigies and flags all day long to spite your enemies is only a small step in sophistication above banging a bongo drum and jabbing a pin in a voodoo doll.

This is classic case of "worse is better."

Let the Mussies arrogantly humiliate Danish liberals and Social Democrats real good. This will give them (and other Scandinavians) a nice foretaste of what you can expect from those Third World folks.

It would shock me if Scandanavia the most effeminate and pc region in Europe started reacting to this with some healthy intolerance towards these parasites.

Don't you be too presumptious wth us, ignorant Yankee. We're just overtly benevolent people, and it'll take a lot to shake us out of it.

Petr: tell us about this because you on't hear a lot about your country here.

How PC is Finland, how much worse than let's say around 1990 and how bad compared to the neighbouring countries?

Actually Finland is among the luckiest of European countries as far as immigration is concerned - our third-world-origin population is still minimal and practically invisible.

The downside of this is that very many Finns can still entertain romantical nonsense notions about "poor immigrants who are being discriminated against." I hope that a majority of our folks will awaken before barbarians invade our country in real numbers.
