American Renaissance’s 2006 Conference: A Gathering of Thought Criminals

As James Fulford reports in his Feb. 3 dispatch, (http://vdare.com/fulford/060202_fulford_file.htm) Nick Griffin, chairman of the British National Party (http://www.bnp.org.uk/), has beaten two charges of "incitement of racial hatred"…but must go back to court to be retried (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/4672792.stm) on the two other charges on which his jury could not agree. (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2088-2025181,00.html)

Mr. Griffin’s trial is only the latest in the sorry spectacle of the criminalization of dissent that is eating away at Europe’s freedoms.
Before his next trial, however, Mr. Griffin will join a number of other distinguished "thought criminals" at the American Renaissance (http://www.amren.com/index.html) conference to be held just outside Washington, DC in Reston, Virginia from Feb. 24 to 26. A great deal of what is likely to be said at the conference could land you in jail in Britain (http://vdare.com/fulford/scenes_from_britain.htm), Canada (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=29483), France (http://www.vdare.com/gottfried/hysteria.htm), Spain (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3679336.stm), and several other allegedly "advanced (http://www.vdare.com/misc/belien_050120_bush.htm)" countries. Indeed, practically every speaker at the conference—from France, Australia, Canada, and South Africa as well as Britain—has either an outright criminal record or a history of hair-raising legal fights over the right to express an opinion.

Take Guillaume Faye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume_Faye), one of the most prolific and prominent writers (http://theoccidentalquarterly.com/vol3no2/mo-worldwara.html) of the French New Right (http://www.vdare.com/francis/french_election.htm), who has worked as a radio and television personality, and has written five highly-acclaimed books. Like Mr. Griffin, he has freely expressed his views on Islamic plans to conquer Europe. In 2000, this landed him in court, along with his publisher, where he was relieved of a considerable sum for having "incited racial hatred." Four years later, when Mr. Faye needed a passport for a trip to the United States, it was touch and go whether the French would even let this notorious criminal leave the country.

It’s particularly easy to "incite racial hatred" in France. Brigitte Bardot (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=%22brigitte%20bardot%22&btnG=Google+Search&sa=N&tab=wi) has been hauled into court and fined five times for speaking her mind (http://vdare.com/misc/orland_silence.htm) on the subject of Muslims.

J. Philippe Rushton of the University of Western Ontario is another speaker who is no stranger to accusations of hate crime. Even though he is recognized (http://www.vdare.com/sailer/rule_of_three.htm) as one of the world’s foremost scholars of racial differences (http://www.ssc.uwo.ca/psychology/faculty/rushton_pubs.htm), it took him four years to fight to a standstill a charge with the Ontario Human Rights Commission that he was "infecting the learning environment with academic racism." (http://www.eugenics.net/papers/nolib.html) In a parallel action, the Ontario attorney general (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Scott_(Ontario_politician)) spent months investigating Prof. Rushton’s work before announcing, at a widely attended press conference, (http://www.ferris.edu/isar/arcade/araceapart.htm) that it was "loony but not criminal."

Andrew Fraser, (http://www.vdare.com/sailer/050731_fraser.htm) formerly a professor of public law at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, is something of a newcomer to thought crime, having become a pariah only last year. When he argued publicly that increasing non-white immigration was turning Australia into "a colony of the Third World," he was run off the Macquarie campus (http://www.vdare.com/sailer/050925_fraser.htm), a peer-reviewed journal rejected a major paper it had already accepted (http://www.vdare.com/misc/050926_fraser.htm), and two different groups of Third-World colonists launched human rights suits against him. Australia has joined the ranks of countries that once had free speech.

It is less of a surprise that our speaker from South Africa, Dan Roodt (http://www.vdare.com/francis/white_genocide.htm), is also an accused "hate criminal". Africans have a long tradition of muzzling the opposition—permanently, if possible. One of the country’s best-known defenders and promoters of Afrikaans literature and culture, Dr. Roodt was formally charged with "hate speech" for pointing out that most violent South African criminals are young black men. His most recent offense, a book-length indictment of the government called The Scourge of the ANC (http://www.praag.co.za/boek.scourge.htm), is likely to get him into even more legal trouble.

Dr. Roodt has become such a controversial figure that, just last year, he had to be surrounded by bodyguards when he spoke at the annual Afrikaans literary festival, Woordfees (http://www.litnet.co.za/seminaar/pleister_ym.asp). Such is the state of free speech in Nelson Mandela’s new South Africa.

The American speakers—Atlanta lawyer Sam Dickson and myself—cannot (yet) be charged with thought crimes, but plenty of people hope for that day to come. One "watchdog" (http://www.vdare.com/francis/watch_dogs.htm) organization, One People’s Project (http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/site/index.php), says Mr. Dickson’s views on race make him the equivalent of a terrorist. "Dickson and his ilk should be regarded—and treated—as such," they add (http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=27), and I suspect they have in mind something more than a lawsuit.
As for your servant, it was so long ago that I have forgotten when the Southern Poverty Law Center (http://www.vdare.com/king/050331_poverty.htm) first called me a "race hater." In 2003, I was on their list of the 40 most loathsome people in America, so I’m sure if we had laws against "incitement of racial hatred," they’d see to it I was charged.

According to the Anti-Defamation League (http://www.vdare.com/francis/anti_semitism.htm), I peddle "intellectualized, pseudoscientific white supremacy." (http://www.adl.org/learn/ext_us/amren.asp?xpicked=5&item=amren) If anything ever deserved a jail sentence, that surely does.

This may soon cease to be a joking matter. On Feb. 3, the US State Department unbosomed what appears to be official American policy on the Danish Mohammed cartoons that have so riled (http://blog.vdare.com/archives/2006/02/03/clash-of-civilizations-the-cartoon-episode/) Muslims: "Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable," (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11097877/) intoned State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper.

If a series of tame cartoons amounts to incitement of hatred, surely what I write about low black IQ or high Hispanic crime rates is worse.
If it’s "unacceptable" in Denmark, it’s "unacceptable" here, too.
It may be that if you want to see thought crime in action—and maybe even dabble in it a bit yourself —you had better come to an AR conference while you can still show up and not be arrested. "Sweet land of liberty" is beginning to ring about as hollow as "land of the free and home of the brave."

Use the Hate, Luke

Over 300 people met last weekend at the Hyatt in Herndon, VA, for the American Renaissance conference. You couldn’t meet a nicer group of people. They were all dressed nicely, spoke calmly, and were well-mannered. They all genuinely care for the survival of their people, and they wish absolutely no harm whatsoever on anyone else. But does the Washington Post describe us as merely politically incorrect dissidents? Of course not. What we wore was apparently more important than what was actually said. (And the ADL calls us "genteel racists.") Those of you who believe what you read in the newspaper need to go through a very long detox program. A small group of anarchists showed up to march in front of the hotel, carrying signs that read "End White Supremacy" and "Nazis = Minutemen = KKK" and "F— Off Nazi Scum and Die." They had distributed leaflets with swastikas that made us out to be the devil’s horde. As we drove up to hotel, a friend of mine said, "Oh! I can feel the hate welling up within me!" There was a constant police presence both inside and outside the hotel. I wish I could tell you that the police were at least neutral, but that would be asking too much. At a sandwich shop down the street, I heard one of them inform the business owner that he was on duty at a gathering of "neo-Nazis" down the street. That word, "neo-Nazi," is beyond useless and should be retired from service, but if it means anything at all in the popular mind, it is one who wants to kill Jews. Jews were present at the conference, and they were perfectly safe. Some police friends of mine were also in attendance, and they could plainly see that the anarchists made a note of their license plate number. Later that day they found one of their tires slashed. Next time, instead of a tire it could be something worse. The newspapers and police are actually inciting violence against us by implying that we have a hidden agenda and describing us in ways that are meant to provoke a reaction. We do not respond in kind. "A soft answer turneth away wrath," as Jared Taylor is fond of saying.

Aside from the unpleasantness of the jungle they call Herndon, we had a very good time. It’s easy to talk about sacrifice, but the speakers we met have faced and are facing loss of job, loss of life, loss of family, or jail time. As Nick Griffin, chairman of the British National Party, said, "No one has ever overthrown a corrupt, evil regime without sacrifice." Griffin spoke first at the conference, and he is still very optimistic even though he faces up to seven years in jail for calling Islam a "vicious wicked faith." He accurately predicted the London bombings, saying that terrorism was certain to occur in buses or "tubes" by second-generation Pakistanis from Bradford. He was correct, except that the perpetrators were actually from Leeds. But his foresight has not spared Griffin from being charged with incitement of racial violence by the usurpers of the West, who have overturned a thousand years of English common law in the process. There are many more victims of tyranny in the "cradle of liberty." Griffin commented that a man was recently arrested for writing "Home Rule for England" on a wall that was set to be torn down. Another was arrested for "homophobia" for holding a sign with the words "homosexuality is a sin." The arrest put him under so much stress that he died of a heart attack while awaiting trial.

Andrew Fraser, a professor from Australia, explained that the family is a microcosm of the republic, and just as we are trying to return to our Nordic political roots, we should press for household rather than individual suffrage. This is a very good idea, and it is how votes are recorded in many churches. Now the farce of democracy has robbed us of the aristocracy we once had. Fraser proposes the creation of a new aristocracy of lawyer-statesmen, which was welcomed by the attornies in the room.

Phillippe Rushton gave a very humorous and scientific presentation. He and Arthur Jensen have found that Black-White differences in America are 80% genetic. He explained that interracial couples must make up for genetic dissimilarity by similarity in intelligence and other factors. Even those of us without vile affections feel the strong pull of genes. Think of this: Identical twins choose friends and spouses that are more similar to them than is true for fraternal twins.

This was the first AR conference without Sam Francis, but some video clips of his past speeches were played. I enjoyed hearing him say that the subject of race is in the minds of the deluded like "The Little Man on the Stair":

I met a man upon the stair,
A little man who wasn’t there.
He wasn’t there again today:
I wish to hell he’d go away.

Dan Roodt of South Africa told us that Negroes have graduated from clay-and-dung Xhosa huts built by women to a de-luxe apartment in the sky, namely the South African Parliament building. (It all sounds very similar to a scene from the horrifying and amazing documentary film, Africa Addio. The British colonists are forced to leave Kenya, and everything they can’t carry with them must be auctioned. Vast estates are sold off for pocket change to the natives, who move into the mansions but continue to live like animals. One is shown breaking apart furniture to burn in the fireplace; another is shown taking a dump in the bathtub.) The new rulers of South Africa open their sessions in tribal costume, brandishing their strange relics. Roodt joked that the tribal dress of the White man is a three-piece suit. In South Africa, 80% of all taxes are paid by Whites, who are outnumbered 10 to 1. But the Whites can’t find jobs because - being White - they are unable to score enough points on the racial scorecards that prioritize applicants for jobs and even bank credit. No White person can be the sole owner of a business; he must have a Black partner. White employees are reprimanded at work for using the White language in emails, because this is an act of exclusivity. Roodt scoffed that apartheid was such a "crime against humanity" that the Black population quadrupled in a few decades. Keep in mind that there were roughly equal numbers of Blacks and Whites in South Africa a hundred years ago. What kind of "genocide" causes the "victim" population to grow to such an extent? What kind of "genocide" raises the number of Black university graduates from a handful to the tens of thousands? Now, in what has become the murder and rape capital of the word, there are rumors that when Communist Mandela dies, there will be a massacre of the remaining Whites, on the order of St. Bartholomew’s Day. I had a nice conversation with Mrs. Roodt, who is a lovely woman. She showed me a ring on her finger that was made by the Oranians. She and her husband were almost killed recently by an angry mob that closed in on them "like a vise," but they continue to hope that their situation will improve. Let’s not forget that these people are descended from about 40,000 Boers, who are as tough or tougher than the American pioneers. The standard of living in South Africa continues to be 10 times higher than that of surrounding nations, but when chivalrous Whites leave the continent, so will the economy.

Miscegenation is being proclaimed as the solution to South Africa’s problems. The premise is that the actual problem is the existence of Whites. The Anglican Church has stood firmly behind those elites who have been more concerned with pleasing Britain economically than with saving their people, and the result has been murder, rape, and displacement. The church sold out the people and brought all of these horrors upon them. Roodt quoted Cicero: "Betrayal by one’s own is worse than defeat by one’s enemies." Cicero also said: "A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the plague."

Political and ecclesiastical leaders around the world are perfectly willing to reduce Whites to a minority or to extinction in order to uphold vague principles of social equality. Even police and fire departments are willing to risk safety by hiring women to do the work of men. As Adlai Stevenson said, the managerial elites will always choose agreeable fantasy over disagreeable fact.

Jared Taylor’s speech was thoughtful, as always. He asks Democrats where he lives why they belong to the Democrat Party, and the answer is always the same: because the Democrats are filled with compassion. Jew Olasky has tried to get Republicans to copy this language. Similarly, Tories bill themselves as "decent people." Taylor wonders what other races are politically motivated by charity to strangers. Blacks never have to convince themselves that something in their best interest is "fair" or "good." If it benefits them, it is good. Only Whites are reluctant to think in this way. At the same time, Whites uniformly believe that their way is superior, and they are reluctant to change and become like those for whom they will eagerly change their institutions. In other words, the very same Whites who would never want to be called racists are in fact White Supremacists. Just listen to them make excuses for colored rioters. They refuse to hold others to White standards. They are also American Exceptionalists, meaning that what is in the best interest of the Empire (not our people) is inherently moral.

I liked it when Taylor said that our objective is to get people in touch with their feelings, like when they feel better about paying five times more for a house in a White neighborhood than around the "diversity" they profess to love.

Sam Dickson told us that the English, with one-fourth our population, lost more soldiers in one day during the Battle of the Somme than the American Empire lost in the entire Vietnam War. But England didn’t come apart at the seams because it was homogeneous and Christian enough to remain strong. Three generations in America have passed without serious challenge and with no serious war, yet the country almost did come apart at the seams over the trivial Vietnam War. Things will get ugly if catastrophe strikes us soon, not only because our once-great nation has been reduced to squabbling minorities but because the imperial government has wrecked the currency.

Dickson and Taylor are both sons of Presbyterian ministers. Dickson observed that the highest self-esteem is found among young Black men in prison. Quite obviously, Christians should be more focused on humility. He also said that the sociopaths who are running this country have abandoned their people and are worse than infidels, according to 1 Timothy 5:8. While grace is greater than race, "Our race is greater than a philosophical principle," he said. He also said that "IQ difference is a no-brainer."

When our people were "racist," we created national music, songs, and literature, but no longer. Now tribalism has been replaced by globalism. Everything is confused, said Guillaume Faye, one of the speakers, who observed that the demonstrators in front of the hotel were White. Read more.

"Our present afflictions come from the virus of nihilism, which Nietzsche foresaw, and which has weakened all our natural defenses. Thus infected, Europeans have succumbed to a feverish self-extinction. They have voluntarily opened the city gates. The primary symptom of this disease is ‘xenophilia’: a systematic preference for the Other rather than for the Same. A second symptom is ‘ethnomasochism,’ a hatred of one’s own civilization and origins. A third is emasculation [dévirilisation], or what might be called the cult of weakness and a preference for male homosexuality." ~ Guillaume Faye

But enough about White people. Let’s talk about something else. "A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his ‘wife,’ after he was caught having sex with the animal." On second thought, let’s talk about White people some more.
