CARACAS: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez told a rally of thousands of supporters at the weekend that US President George W Bush was worse than Hitler and vowed to buy more arms to defend his nation as their diplomatic relations deteriorated.

"The imperialist, genocidal, fascist attitude of the US president has no limits. I think Hitler would be like a suckling baby next to George W Bush," Chavez said from a stage decorated with a huge red image of himself as a young soldier.

Already frayed ties between the United States and the socialist leader worsened further this week after Chavez expelled a US military attache accused of espionage and the White House responded by ordering out a Venezuelan diplomat.

Chavez, a retired army paratrooper who often accuses Washington of trying to overthrow him, warned he could shut Venezuelan oil refineries in the United States and sell oil for the US market elsewhere if Washington cuts off ties.

US officials have made no suggestion they plan to break relations. Washington has repeatedly dismissed Chavez's threats and charges as inflammatory rhetoric aimed at stirring up nationalist sentiment among his poor supporters.

Washington and Caracas recently locked horns over a US block on sales of Spanish military equipment to Venezuela. The Spanish aircraft contained US-made technology, which requires countries to get Washington's clearance for the sale.

Chavez, who last year bought helicopters and 100,000 rifles from Russia, said he would seek to buy more arms to defend Venezuela against any attempt to topple his government. US officials say the purchases could destabilise the region as Chavez moves to create a huge military reservist movement.

"I ask for permission ... to buy another cargo of arms because the gringos want us unarmed. We have to defend our fatherland," he said. "Venezuela needs 1 million well-equipped men and women, and well-armed."

The Venezuelan leader has put himself at the centre of regional opposition to Bush, who he calls "Mr Danger," while Washington brands Chavez a worrying threat to regional stability and criticises his alliance with Cuba.

Flush with cash from high crude prices, Chavez is promoting socialist reforms at home and aggressively challenging US free-market proposals by allying himself with his South American neighbors, as well as Cuba and Iran.

US officials reject charges the expelled naval attache contacted Venezuelan officers for state secrets. Chavez on Saturday read out emails he said were communications between the officers and the US Embassy.

Since his 1998 election, Chavez has clashed repeatedly with the United States, which he accuses of planning an invasion and backing a brief 2002 coup attempt that he survived with the help of loyal troops.

If President Chavez had anyone in his cabinet with any historical background, he'd know it's absolutely ludicrous to compare George W. Bush with Adolf Hitler.

Here's an essay written by Gerry Frederics which effectively addresses the differences. It's posted on Rich Brooks' White Alert Website. Link:

Bush vs. Hitler? No Comparison!

By Gerry Frederics
March 3, 2005

Friends! Today I received a link to two stories comparing Bush with Hitler. This is nothing new, but it is as annoying as, let's say seeing a brilliant black medical doctor with dimwitted white sidekicks in emergency room dramas or hearing the occasional ''Did you know, Hitler had a jewish grandfather''? Only retarded individuals would give any credence to such garbage or pay any attention to it, so here is my take on the Bush-Hitler comparison:

* Hitler was a volunteer in WWI and a certified war hero.

Bush is a deserter and a certified coward.
(PERSONAL NOTE: This may be a bit harsh; Bush did actually serve in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam period. Of course, the guys he actually served with have a hard time remembering him)

* Hitler developed a hugely successful economic miracle.

Bush has bankrupted the USA.

* Hitler's love of things automotive sparked total domination of all motorized
racing events worldwide.

Bush has a chauffeur and watches niggerball.

* Hitler had impeccable taste in music, drama, opera, literature and art.

Bush lacks any and all of these qualities to a spectacular degree.

* Hitler was well versed in world history.

Bush doesn't even know how to spell the word.

* Hitler was an unfailingly polite man.

Bush is an impolite, rude bully whose behavior is so bad, that in Santiago, Chile, President Lagos CANCELLED the farewell dinner prepared for him in 2004. He's also been photographed giving the finger to a peaceful protester who dared to disagree with him.

* Hitler was openly AND privately admired by men such as Britain's Lloyd George and Lord Rothmere, America's Charles Lindbergh, Sweden's Sven Hedin,
Norway's Knut Hamsun, France's WWI hero Marshall Petain, Slovakia's
President Dr.Tiso -- virtually an endless ''who's who'' list of of the 1930s world.

Bush is scoffed at and disdained as a useful tool of the jews by the leaders of most civilized nations and is admired only by Britain's Tony Blair, another certified slimebag. That about covers his fan club.

* Hitler was a reader of complex technical texts, which he absorbed and
understood better than many ''experts."

Bush has prided himself in not being a reader.

* Until 1939 Hitler's political life was crowned by one stunning success after the other.

I can't think of even one political success of Bush's, except perhaps for stealing two elections.

* Hitler was perhaps the finest orator in the past 200 years. He wrote his own speeches and spoke flawless German.

Bush's speeches are written for him by jews, he peppers them with horrendous grammatical mistakes and only a certified cretin could watch this man speak and believe anything that comes out of his mouth.
(PERSONAL NOTE: Even after 4 years at Yale, Bush still cannot pronounce "NUKE-YOU-LAR" properly)

* Hitler told the truth and kept his promises.

Bush doesn't know the definition of truth and keeps no promises. None!
(PERSONAL NOTE: Wrong! He promised to make the rich richer, and he's kept that promise.):hump:

So, those pundits who wish to compare Bush with Hitler are totally outrageous, but not for the reasons their critics usually cite. It is an egregious insult to the memory of Adolf Hitler to compare the Führer of the Third Reich to the Alfred E. Neuman look-alike who currently resides in our White House.
