Bird flu strikes Slovenia for first time
LJUBLJANA, Slovenia, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Bird flu has been found in Slovenia, the first case registered in the country.
Officials said the body of a swan has tested positive for the H5N1 strain of bird flu.
Itar-Tass reports Slovenia officials reported the case to the European Commission and the swan was found near a lake by the Austrian border.
Health authorities are taking aim at domestic birds who have interacted with wild waterfowl.
The strain, which isn't very contagious between humans, is feared to strike a worldwide pandemic if it mutates.

This will not end until we have killed each and every one of those awful birds. One thing is for sure, I'll contribute my two cents by eating as much chicken as humanly possible.

I'm sure they'll ship you as many as you want for less than 2 cents now.

It has only been confirmed that the bird had the H5 strain, not H5N1 (as of Feb. 13).

My god!
This could escalate very quickly...
the fact that Slovenians traditionally eat raw swan-meat doesn't help!

This incident happened about 1,5 km from my apartment. I'll make sure not to interact with any birds.

According to Engdahl bird flu is a hoax spread by US companies in order to lower the price of naturally grown chickens in Europe and Asia.

People around the world die out of unknown, rare or exotic diseases every day, but it is not the huge, unsanitary, overcrowded factory chicken farms of the global giants which are being targeted by this propaganda, but the small chicken farmers with at most perhaps 20 chickens. As soon as all the countries of Asia and Europe adopt US patented GMO chickens, there wont be any reports about 'the Black Death' on the TV, and the Chinese farmers wont die infront of cameras anymore. :D

If our politicians had a half of wit, they would have already placed decontamination squads in white latex suits and gas-masks on the border check points toward Slovenia (and Bosnia and Serbia as soon as they spot the first dead bird there).
