Is the site down? I clicked my bookmark for it and all I get is a [FORBIDDEN TO ACCESS THIS FORUM] message. If I got ISP banned, fine; if not, fine, too, but I would like to know if the place is gone or not. I had some links posted there I would like to recover.

lol, there is no reason you would have been banned, IP or otherwise. The site is simply down, and unlikely to come back up.

In fact I have not been the owner for a while, having passed it over to Kamandi. The issue is discussed here.

The database needs to be preserved IMO, and I believe it can be. We managed it before (or rather you did, for which many thanks); we can do it again.

As for the site staying down, think of all the people on SF who will be laughing if that happens.

Kamandi, any chance you can tell us exactly what's going on?

Status so far.

Kam and I agreed that the license would be transferred to me, unfortunately this didn't happen and there is some confusion as to where the license is or who has it.

Then there were PM's about next steps and how we should restart a new forum but nothing was actually put into place, I had some personal issues with a bereavement in the family and I lost interest for a while.

The good news is that I have a new vbulletin license a new domain and server and a new site is under construction, sadly the MSF database is gone forever with all the contact details of MSF'ers past, present and the lurkers.

So hopefully with some guidance from my mate Harj the site will be up and running in a couple of days, it is time consuming and expensive too! I hope it'll be worthwhile in the end.

It takes a while before you understand, in the fullness of time, that the disappearance of an internet forum and its archives like so many bathtub bubbles is generally A Good Thing, if not an outright Gift From God.

If said loss strikes you as cruel proof of an uncaring universe....well, climb back in the tub, grit your teeth and push, and make new bubbles.

I recall checking MSF a few times over the years and it most certainly was race-obsessed. Even the choice of the name "MootStormFront" highlights the ridiculousness of the operation. Dedicating one's self to combating StormFront is akin to a Down's Syndrome sufferer declaring another Down's Syndrome sufferer as his mortal enemy.

It's like those people here flipping out about 000's nonsense. He isn't swaying anyone of intelligence with his crap and neither is StormFront....

As for going back to gross generalities:

This is correct -- Abolitionists were generally segregationists who were obsessed with Race-purity. The South did not have a notion of 'Race' in our modern sense until Sherman's march burned the idea into their consciousness. Even them, Jim Crow was planted on Southern soil by Republicans (Northern Liberals and Abolitionists), who planted Black Rule in the South. It became an institution in the South around the time the Fed was born.

Antiracism has simply evolved from its opposite, both of which are foreign notions to the persons whom they claim to be 'Racists' (one reason I do not accept that label). Both Racists and Anti-Racists share a concern with their mutually shared notion of Race, which is shared by no other country or ethnicity on earth.

One of the reasons I left VNNF is because occasionally something would go wrong and they'd lose two weeks worth of posts. Not that my posts were worth much, but I do put effort into some of them. It's very annoying to see posts and threads disappear due to mismanagement.

"Fine" in the sense of "non-existent"? Interesting....

Because the domain expired in May, a lot of files have to be transferred to a new one -- which will take some time. Mr A has agreed to be the point man on it, as I don't have time with the new fiscal looming and a book contract.
