Well, it seems that Norway is not a member of the all-mighty OPEC, and the all-mighty OPEC is not happy. OPEC wants world oil production to be cut to bring oil prices up. Norway refuses to comply.

According to Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store (there's a line through that 'o'), "The country won't go along with the effort to boost prices". He went on to state "Norway makes it's own evaluations on an independent basis. It's Norway alone that makes these decisions".

OPEC countries are: Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. The Algerian Oil Minister (OPEC) is also scheduled to speak with Russia and Mexico (non-OPEC members) to reduce their oil production to be in line with OPEC. The problem for OPEC being that their cuts in oil production will not be enough to raise oil prices.

The 20th new oil and gas site to be found this year in the North Sea looks to be a viable source as do other areas being explored by Norwegian oil concerns.

Heh, good for my kinsmen in the land of my ancestors..The all-mighty OPEC is not so all-mighty anymore.
