One can easily argue is that it was science, that created atomic bombs, laboratory-bred viruses that can destroy all life on Earth and within one century killed several times more people that were killed by the smallpox it cured.


It was not a safeguard against the tyrannical regimes of the Xxth century, but a useful tool, making massive propaganda possible.

Science indeed is just a tool. Like a hummer, you can hit a nail or you can crush a forehead, but a hammer is useless if you don't know what you are doing and don't know why you are holding it. Hammer is good for a bigger plan, but it can't be the plan itself.
