This thread is just going to be a catch-all for any snippets or stories of culture-crossing.

The weirder/quirkier, the better.

I'll start with a dialog between two black American artists working in India.

One of the most bizarre instances of cross-culturalism I can recall is the BBC2 series “The Kumars at No. 42”, which depicted a ‘British Indian’ family at home somewhere in London. For some now-forgotten reason the patriarch of the family – who caricatures a stage Indian complete with Savile Row suits, regimental tie and military ‘tash – arranges for famous guests to visit their semidetached in Wembley, apprently so his socially-awkward son Sanjeev (v.remiscent of Dodi Fayed) can hone his skills as a talk-show presenter. There are other stock characters including the Memsahib and Ummi (grandma) who seem to believe they still live in the Civil Cantonment in Bangalore, the whole ensemble actually seemed to be embarrassingly gaffe-prone from a cross-cultural understanding perspective.

Here’s a sample episode involving Boy George as the ‘famous’ guest.

I wonder if this is what harjit’s family life was like in Canuckistan.
