The "Slab" Murphy has been raided nad his assets seized, a joint operation between PSNI and Garda. ( Sorry :o !)
Now some might think that this is another operation to discredit SF but unless the Garda and the PSNI drove the tankers in themselves , brought the chemicals to launder fuel , brought in some £300,000 in cash , brought in some £400,000 in cheques and assorted money orders, brought in PC's and hid them in between bails of hay , it does seem that Mr. Murphy is something more than a poor farmer.
He does according to the Sunday Times still owe them some £600,000 in unpaid legal fees from his two libel actions fought and lost against the "Times" , he did not appeal when he lost his last action.
The "Sunday Times" named him as being the head of the South Armagh A.S.U. , he sued and lost , twice.
He took his actions out in an Irish court and "was branded a man of useless reputation who plotted murder".
Gerry Adams has said of him in the past " Tom Murphy is not a criminal , he is a good republican"
"He is also , very importantly a key supporter of the Sinn Fein peace stragety and has been for a long time"seems that gerry might have to review that statement in the light of what might further be gleamed from the detailed examination of the haul from the Murphy farm and its out buildings.
With the Egyptian loyalists firm being clamped down on and the "Slab" Murphy being squeezed its a bad time to have dirty money , so much that you can't even bank it.
One wonders if this will reduce the number of fuel outlets selling "bad diesel" ?
The border runs right through his farm - he did make lots of money moving cattle and claiming money by moving them from one end of a shed to another. Clever !
All in all .
30,000 contraband cigarattes - what must his lungs be like , or does he just get a lot of "duty frees" given to him.
30 boxes of documnets relating to his various " buisness operations".
6 oil tankers used for transporting illegal fuel.
Storage tanks which held 100,000 gallons of laundered fuel.
The equipment for "washing fuel".
£310,000 in sterling.
£400,000 in euros and cheques.
Mr Murphy has a very novel way of keeping his PC's and lap tops virus free , he hides them in between bails of hay , he even keeps his discs there.
Now there's a tip .
My own view - its got to do with dirty money , dirty fuel , smuggled cigerattes, money laundering - good old criminal activity.
Who knows where the paper chase may lead ?
