http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ireland_Collaboration/Poll_on_Ireland_article_names

Option A: Merge Ireland and Republic of Ireland into one article at Ireland.

Option B: The state at Ireland. The island at Ireland (island).

Option C: A general "all-Ireland" topic at Ireland. The island at Ireland (island). The state at Ireland (state).

Option D: The island at Ireland. The state at Ireland (state).

Option E: A disambiguation page at Ireland. The island at Ireland (island). The state at Ireland (state).

Option F: The island at Ireland. The state at Republic of Ireland.

Needless to say, the pro-Irish contingent is favoring option F (although you can list all six - or fewer - ballot options in order of preference).

Here is a template, which also happens to reflect how I voted:

* {{stv-ballot|A=6|B=2|C=4|D=3|E=5|F=1|}}[[User:YourWikipediaUserName]] ~~~~

Please keep in mind that the four characters at the end ("tildes") are crucial; they must be included. if you'd prefer not to look like a noob, then modify the above template as so:

[[YourWikipediaUserName| ]] ~~~~

Note the blank space to the right of the "|" character.

If the "F" option wins an outright majority of 1st preferences, then subsequent rankings are of no consequence. Hence, for the sake of convenience, some might prefer to simply rank F=1, while all other options = 0.

By the way, please don't mention the existence of this thread to anyone at Wikipedia, as I believe it would be interpreted as violating their No Canvassing policy.

I would think this thread is probably a bad idea then.

Don't they know who you are, and wouldn't people from there who dislike you find this?

Possibly. But I'm taking that chance. Most of the real militants in this debate would probably approve of this thread....

F is the status quo, yes? Why is that controversial? Who wants it changed?

I haven't followed the debate closely (I only recently became aware of it), but its become all mired in Irish nationalism and British imperialism (both pro- and anti-).

None of those choices mention Ireland as a nation or kingdom. The current from of governance dates from 1922 at the earliest.

"Option C" I guess but the wording is confusing.

Option C is the best in my opinion.
