THE SERIES "TITO" HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE PROGRAM OF HTV 1.
Documentary postponed
The Series "Tito" has been Removed from the Program of HTV 1.
Vrdoljak's series about Tito, the former president of Yugoslavia is no longer part of the program listing on HTV. Officially, the station was also surprised to learn that twelve episodes had been filmed, rather than the original six which were previously agreed upon according to the original contract between the producer and state television authorities. When the series will be aired shall be known once the head executives adjourn a meeting concerning the airing of the series.
The long awaited theatrical production, "Tito", under the production of Antun Vrdoljak, which was supposed to start at 8 pm on the first program of HTV this Friday, was removed from the program lineup on Tuesday afternoon.
If it will be aired and when will be known following a meeting of the executive committee and filming crews which worked on the project, who were not informed that their work had been removed from the television lineup.
Vrdoljak himself learned of the news from the national daily newspaper, Jutarnji list.
"I am an old man who has been through much in his life so things like this come as absolutely no suprise to me. HTV is responsible for making the decision when the series will be aired. They paid for the series; it's the same when you buy something with money and then it becomes yours and it's only a matter of time before you decide to use it, or in this case, to show it. The reason for the postponement could be due to the fact that the third installment in the series would have been shown on Good Friday, which would not be appropriate for that particular day," Vrdoljak assumed.
HTV executives did not want to comment on the matter late Tuesday night. According to unofficial information from Jutarnji list, everything with regards to the matter should be settled by Friday at noon." At a time when we are in a recession, we cannot simply allow for someone to receive double payment for something which had previously been agreed to. We had requested for a production house to be built. Two were built with the expectation that we would purchase both of them," as one HTV executive put it creatively, who found out on Tuesday afternoon, right before the first airing of the series, how many episodes it actually had.
"The first six episodes have already been paid for. We expect that Mr. Vrdoljak will edit his material and cut it down so that the final product will be equal to the original amount of material we were looking for. We don't know how much time he would need to do such a thing; he obviously couldn't do it within a day so that the airing deadline could be met, as was planned. In the case he is unable to do that, we will wait until he submits material which was agreed upon in the original contract, because at first glance it looks as though he has done some very good work," according to the words of one HTV executive for Jutarnji list.
